SAMSUNG's ACELINK(TM) System Provides Total U/ADSL Solution

(9th October, 1999) At Telecom '99, Samsung Electronics is demonstrating high-speed Internet access and delivery of interactive multimedia services all over an existing copper line with the AceLink(TM) ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) solution. Small businesses, residential and remote users will benefit with very fast, full-rate ADSL access up to 8 Mbps downstream, which is at least 30 times faster than an analog modem or an ISDN connection.

The AceLink(TM) uses a dynamic digital coding technique known as Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT). DMT modulation collects incoming data and then distributes it instantly to a large number of individual communications service providers. With end-to-end ATM capabilities, the packet-switching technology guarantees quality of service, high-speed Internet access and line integrity at a cost advantage.

With an U/ADSL access network, network operators can provide to customers a range of multimedia and telephony services without the high costs. Customers can take advantage of various applications such as fast and reliable Internet access, telecommuting, distance learning, video-on-demand, remote LAN extension and workgroup networking capabilities.

Additionally, rate adaptive functionality determines data rates and delivers the fastest possible connection for consistent and reliable Internet access every time. There is also simple software downloads for remote upgrades. AceLink(TM) is compliant with all the latest specifications of the ITU, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the ADSL Forum and the ATM Forum. AceLink(TM) also supports the Universal ADSL or G.Lite ADSL interoperable specification to provide "always-on" Internet access.

Customers will enjoy a large range of reliable services without the need for any complex installation or new wiring as U/ADSL can deliver fast services over a single existing twisted copper line. Furthermore, network operators will be able to deliver content locally and high-speed networks, while service providers can offer web hosting services to its customers.
