SAMSUNG MultiCampus Puts EduPort on the Market

As the e-Learning market is rapidly expanding, the development business of its related solutions is at the turning point.

Samsung MultiCampus, the dedicated IT education institute (Director: Byung-Soo Ryoo, www.multicampus.co.kr), is introducing eduPort, the operations package for the 21st-century type distance education developed with Samsung SDS's accumulated know-how, announced on Jan. 8 that it would customize eduPort for small and medium-sized distance education institutes as well as applying the product to e-Campus, its own distance education site.

As operation systems equipped with content for cyber education on the Internet, distance education solutions refer to those tools that process educational content in the form of texts or active streaming formats.

eduPort, introduced by Samsung MultiCampus, consists of the following:
▶ Front Office-education services functions for students from registration to completion of courses,
▶ Back Office-an administration tool for the smooth operation of education for students, and
▶ Additional Service-supplementary services.

Being the only operation package for distance education developed in the Java environment, it has excellent system expandability and compatibility and over 800 operation-management functions that are twice or three times as many as that of existing solutions. Thus, it is capable of making complete use of the great variety of student-centered functions.

In order to flexibly meet the market demand for B2B e-Learning solutions, eduPort is divided into three sets: eduPort (Deluxe), eduPort (Standard) and eduPort (Light). These divisions will contribute to the optimal operation of distance education sites fit for the individual environment of each institute by means of the customization of functions needed by various distance education institutes, including small and medium-sized institutes as well as large ones.

According to Samsung MultiCampus, the English, Japanese, and Chinese versions of eduPort have been put on the market simultaneously with Korean versions. These different versions are expected to enable Samsung MultiCampus to capture the overseas distance education markets.

Byung-So Ryoo, the Director of Samsung MultiCampus says that the success or failure in the distance education business, whose market size is supposed to be one trillion won this year, depends on the quality of content and the functional capability of operation solutions that implement the content. eduPort is a powerful total solution that enables the perfect embodiment of the various methodologies of distance education requested by the B2B e-Learning market. He points out that although the domestic market of distance education is rapidly expanding, thanks to the information drive policies and education-environment improvement policies of the government, the research and development of its related solutions are still in their infancy.
