STEM Academy

Middle and High School Outreach Programs

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is committed to inspiring middle and high school students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Our STEM Academy gives students access to education, training, and awareness of career paths in the semiconductor and manufacturing industry. STEM Academy activities take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with offerings at either 9am or 1pm. Educators from Austin, Hutto, Leander, Manor, Pflugerville and Round Rock ISD schools can submit a program request form 30 days in advance to enable coordination with our staff. High School Graduate Internship (HSGI) Program

Technician Career Track

During this 10-week internship, aspiring technicians are given the eye-opening experience of a career in the semiconductor and manufacturing industry. After completing a 2-week orientation, a mentor will guide you in gaining the knowledge and experience to help you determine if this is the right career path for you. At the end of your internship, you’ll put your communication skills to use when you present your accomplishments at a final intern showcase event. Select students will be invited to transition into our Fab Apprentice Program. Fab Apprentice Program

Technician Career Track

After successful completion of the HSGI program, selected students will be enrolled into the Fab Apprentice Program. While completing your Associate’s Degree at Austin Community College (ACC), you’ll have the opportunity to work with us 2 days a week. As long as you maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, our company will pay for 100% of your tuition and books. Once you graduate, you will be eligible to apply for a full-time position as a technician with us.

Qualifying Degree Plans:

  • Automation, Robotics and Controls Technology
  • Advanced Manufacturing Specialization
  • Chevron Engineering Program (must be accepted by ACC)
  • IT Degree

College Summer Internship

Engineering Career Track

Our competitive program offers college students an engaging, fast-paced, 3-month internship where you’ll be assigned a project in one of a variety of departments like analytics, automation, diffusion, etch, metals, photolithography, and more! Summer interns participate in tailored orientation and training sessions that give insight into the complete view of our business and culture. You’ll have opportunities to socialize with fellow interns and meet employees in a variety of departments. At the end of your internship, you’ll put your communication skills to use when you present your accomplishments at a final intern showcase event. Select students will be invited to transition into our College Orientation Recruitment Program (CORP).

To qualify for a College Summer Internship, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
  • Have a cumulative GPA for 3.0 or higher
  • Apply for the Semiconductor Engineer Intern on Samsung Careers

College Orientation Recruitment Program (CORP) Engineer

Engineering Career Track

This full-time, entry-level role kicks-off a new career with a comprehensive orientation and technical training program. CORP engineers are given an overview of the company’s processes and operations, knowledge of our semiconductor fabrication and manufacturing principles, and exposure to working in a large, global organization. The program also features networking, social and community service activities with the current and alumni CORP engineers to build your connection to the Samsung Austin Semiconductor family.

To qualify for CORP, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
  • Have a cumulative GPA for 3.0 or higher
