Community involvement is very important to us at Samsung, and so we host and participate in a variety of local and national fundraisers suggested by employees. One such event is our annual Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital Gears for Giving event.

Gears for Giving is a bike, walk, run, and cheer event that originated at our Samsung Device Solutions America headquarters, home of SSIC, in Silicon Valley. This year’s event included options for a 10-mile bike ride on the Guadalupe trail, a 3-mile run, or 1.5-mile walk through the local area in support of St. Jude. Participants who did not cycle, run, or walk had the opportunity to participate by cheering on the athletes at the start and finish of the event. And because we think it’s more fun when you do this sort of thing with friends and neighbors, we also invited the folks from Cisco next door  to join us!

Now in its seventh year, the effort has raised more than $300,000 for St. Jude, with contributions coming from Samsung and Cisco employees, as well as matching corporate donations from both companies.

We love the passion we see when team members suggest causes for us all to participate in, and we’re very excited to be part of fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!
