How do I use the Music Player on my Samsung Galaxy Stellar™?

The Music Player lets you play music files stored on the device or optional microSD™ card. Music Player supports the following music file types: WAV, MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, MIDI, EVRC, EVRC-B, QCELP, WMA, FLAC, and OGG.

Open the Music Player

  1. Touch Apps > Music Player.

  2. Your mobile device will search for music on your device and microSD™ card.

The Music Player application has two primary views: the Library view and the Now Playing view. From within the Library view, navigate using the tabs at the top of the screen.

  • All: Lists songs in alphabetical order.

  • Playlists: Your created playlists and some default playlists are here.

  • Albums: Lists all the albums in your collection.

  • Artists: Groups all songs and albums under their contributing artist.

  • Music square: Create automatic playlists based on your mood.

  • Folders: View the folders containing music on your device and memory card.

  • Backup and Music: View the music files saved on your Backup+ account.

  • Nearby devices: View the music files of nearby devices.

Switch from the default list view to a thumbnail view by touching Menu > Thumbnail view. This option is not available when viewing from theAll or Music square tabs.

Play Music

Touch a song in your library to listen to it. The Now playing screen opens.

Now Playing Screen Options

Touch Menu to display the following options:

  • Add to quick list: Add the song to the Quick list in the playlists.

  • Via Bluetooth: Route the audio to a Bluetooth-enabled headset.

  • Share via: Share the song over Bluetooth, Email, Gmail™, Messaging, or Wi-Fi Direct™.

  • Add to playlist: Add the song to a new playlist or an existing playlist.

  • Set as: Set the current song as Phone ringtone, Caller ringtone, or Alarm tone.

  • Scan for nearby devices: Scan for nearby devices you can share with wirelessly. Touch AllShare Play to begin remote playback.

  •    

    Settings

    • SoundAlive: Select from a predefined equalizer setting or create your own custom setting.

    • Play speed: Increase the playback speed to up to two times faster or slow it down by half the speed.

    • Music menu: Select which categories you want to display in your library view. Choose from Albums, Artists, Genres, Music square, Folders, Composers, and Years. Choose which playlist to view: Most played, Recently played, or Recently added. When the feature is selected, a green check mark will appear.

    • Lyrics: Select this option to view the song lyrics, if any are available.

    • Music auto off: Select the time-frame in which to turn off the music. Choose Custom to select a specific amount of time.

    • Details: Provides information about the song Title, Time (length), Format, File size, and Location.

    • End: Stop the Music Player and exit the application. To continue playing the music in the background, touch Home key.

Playlists

Create a Playlist

  1. From the Music Player application, touch the Playlists tab.

  2. Touch Menu > Create playlist.

  3. Enter a name for the playlist and touch OK.

  4. Touch Add music and select the songs you would like to add. When selected, a green check mark will appear in the checkbox.

  5. Touch Done to save the playlist.

  6. Touch Back to return to the Playlists tab.

   

Edit a Playlist

  1. From the Music Player application, touch the Playlists tab.

  2. Touch the playlist you would like to edit.

  3. Touch Add to include additional songs.

  4. Touch Menu > Remove if you would like to delete songs from the playlist.

  5. Touch Menu > Edit title to rename the playlist.

  6. Touch Menu > Change order to select the order songs are played in.

Music Square

Music square automatically creates a playlist depending on your mood. Simply touch a square on the grid and Music square will automatically analyze the tempo of the songs in your library to match your mood. To play multiple songs, touch and drag your finger across multiple squares.

Samsung Galaxy Stellar Music Player

Four tempos/moods are available: Exciting, Calm, Joyful, and Passionate. Switch the horizontal axis between Moods and Years by touching Menu and selecting Change horizontal axis > Years.

Before using Music square, you need to have a minimum of 25 songs stored on the device or memory card, and need to update the library. To scan the library for songs recently loaded, touch Menu > Library update.

In the Now Playing screen, touch Music square to quickly jump to the Music square option.
