What is the Smart stay feature on my Samsung Note II?

The Smart stay feature uses the front camera to sense when you are looking at your device, and it keeps the screen from turning off regardless of the screen timeout setting.

Turn On Smart Stay

To turn on Smart stay from the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > My device > Smart screen. Place a check mark next to Smart stay to turn the feature on.

Smart stay may not work in the following situations:

  • When your device is docked or is not held upright.

  • When the front camera fails to detect your face and eyes.

    1. Download and install Smart Switch for your computer. For older devices, it may be necessary to download and install Kies.

      • Smart Switch for your PC

      • Smart Switch for your Mac

    2. Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.

    3. Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.

    4. Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. This process may take a few minutes.

    5. Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.

    6. If a software update is available for your device, Smart Switch will automatically prompt you to update. At any time, you can click Update.

    7. Click Update to begin downloading the necessary files.

    8. Click OK to proceed.
