Uninstall or Disable Apps on the Galaxy S6

To make the most of your device's internal storage capacity, you can uninstall or turn off apps you don't use. Downloaded apps can be uninstalled, and preloaded apps can be turned off.

Preloaded applications (applications built into your device) cannot be uninstalled. You can only disable them.

Disable Preloaded Applications

If updates or applications are uninstalled, you will need to apply any updates or download the application again via Google Play Store, Samsung GALAXY Apps, or the Amazon Appstore once you turn on the application.

From the Apps menu, you can turn off preloaded applications. Once turned off, the application will be hidden and will not be accessible until it is turned on.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch EDIT at the top of the screen.

  3. Touch minus next to the application you want to turn off.

    • To turn off an application in a folder, touch the folder and choose Open folder.
    • You can then turn off the applications.
    • You can also choose Remove folder to delete the folder.
    • All applications within the folder you delete will return to the Apps menu.

  4. A message may warn you about turning off the application. Touch DISABLE to proceed.

  5. Before the application can be turned off, any updates will be uninstalled and replaced with the factory default version. If updates were installed, touch UNINSTALL to finish turning off the application.
