Uninstall or Disable Apps on Galaxy S6

Got apps you don't use? You can uninstall or disable apps to clear up room on your phone. FYI: downloaded apps can be uninstalled, and preloaded apps can be turned off. Either way, they're history!

Preloaded apps (apps built into your phone) cannot be uninstalled. You can only disable them.

Disable Preloaded Apps

If updates or apps are uninstalled, you will need to apply any updates or download the app again via Google Play Store, Samsung GALAXY Apps, or the Amazon Appstore once you turn on the app.

You can turn off preloaded apps in a snap. Once you turn it off, the app will be hidden and unaccessible until you turn it back on. Out of sight, out of mind.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch EDIT at the top of the screen.

  3. Touch Remove next to the app you want to turn off.

    • To turn off an app in a folder, touch the folder and choose Open folder.
    • You can then turn off the apps.
    • You can also choose Remove folder to delete the folder.
    • All apps within the folder you delete will return to the Apps menu.

  4. You may see a warning message about turning off the app. Touch DISABLE to proceed.

  5. Before the app can be turned off, any updates will be uninstalled and replaced with the factory default version. If updates were installed, touch UNINSTALL to finish turning off the app.

Turn On Disabled Apps

If you changed your mind and want that app back, follow these steps to turn it on again.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Settings.

  3. Touch Applications.

It may be necessary to touch DEVICE tab and then touch Applications.

  4. Touch Application manager.

  5. Swipe to the DISABLED tab and touch the app you want to turn on.

  6. Touch ENABLE.

Uninstall Downloaded Apps

Follow these steps to uninstall downloaded apps:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Edit at the top of the screen.

  3. Touch Remove next to the app you want to uninstall.

  4. You may see a warning message about uninstalling the app. Touch UNINSTALL to proceed.
