How do I take screenshots on my Samsung Galaxy S® 4?

There are several ways to capture screenshots on your device. Screenshots will be copied to the clipboard and saved to the Screenshots folder in the Gallery.

Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Using Device Keys

You can capture a screenshot by simultaneously pressing the Home Home Key key and the Power/Lock key on your device until a white border flashes around the edges of the screen.

Using Motions and Gestures

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Settings Settings Icon.
  3. Touch the MY DEVICE tab.
    Note: To switch to the tab view, touch Menu Meny Key > Switch to tab view.
  4. Scroll to and touch Motions and gestures Motions Icon.
  5. Touch Palm motion.
  6. Touch the slider Off Slider to turn Palm motion on On Slider.
  7. Touch the slider Off Slider to turn Capture screen on On Slider.
  8. Capture a screenshot by touching the screen with the side of your hand and swiping across from left to right, or vice versa.

View a Screenshot

To view a screenshot immediately after you capture it:

  1. Open the Notification Panel by swiping from the top of the screen to the bottom.
  2. Touch Screenshot captured to open the screenshot.
  3. You can also quickly DELETE, EDIT, or SHARE the screenshot from the Notification Panel. If necessary, swipe down on Screenshot captured to access these options.

To view your screenshots at any time:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Gallery .
  3. If necessary, touch the drop-down menu and select Albums.
  4. Open the Screenshots album.
  5. Touch the desired screenshot.

Share a Screenshot

From the Notification Panel

  1. Open the Notification Panel by swiping from the top of the screen to the bottom.
  2. Swipe down on Screenshot captured and touch SHARE.
  3. Share the screenshot using one of the available options. Sharing options vary based on applications installed and features turned on.

From the Gallery

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Gallery .
  3. If necessary, touch the drop-down menu and select Albums.
  4. Open the Screenshots album.
  5. Touch the desired screenshot.
  6. Touch  at the top of the screen.
  7. Share the screenshot using one of the available options. Sharing options vary based on applications installed and features turned on.

Screenshot Options

  1. In the Screenshots album, touch the desired screenshot.
  2. When viewing the screenshot, the following icons are available at the top of the screen:
     
    • Change player: View the screenshot on a nearby compatible DLNA® enabled device.
    • Share via: Share the screenshot using one of the available options. Sharing options vary based on applications installed and features turned on.
    • Delete: Delete the screenshot.
    • Camera: Open the Camera application.
  3. Touch Menu Meny Key for the following options:
    • Edit: Edit the screenshot.
    • Favorite/Unfavorite: Tag the screenshot as a favorite. Choose Favorites from the drop-down menu in the main Gallery view to see all your favorites.
    • Slideshow: Start a slideshow of the screenshots in the folder.
    • Photo Frame: Draw or write in the white frame around the screenshot.
    • Photo note/Draw on image/Add note on back of image: Draw or write on the back of the screenshot.
    • Copy to clipboard: Copy the screenshot to the clipboard, allowing you to use the screenshot in another application.
    • Print: Print the screenshot to an available printer using a wireless network, Wi-Fi Direct®, or a USB cable.
    • Rename: Rename the screenshot.
    • Buddy photo share: Tag the screenshot for easy sharing with a contact.
    • Crop: Crop unwanted areas out of the screenshot.
    • Detect text: Identify text in the photo and touch  for sharing options or to Copy to clipboard.
    • Set as: Set the screenshot as a Contact photo, Home screen wallpaper, Lock screen wallpaper, Home and lock screens wallpaper, or Google+™ Photos Wallpaper.
      Note: Additional options may be available on your device.
    • Details: View technical information about the screenshot, such as its size.
    • Settings: View and edit Gallery settings. View accounts available for syncing with the Gallery, and select when syncing should occur. Turn on Tag buddy or Face tag.
