What is the Smart Manager application on my Samsung Galaxy S6, and how do I use it?

The Smart Manager application lets you manage your device's battery life, storage, RAM usage, and security all in one place. You can easily access the application using the Smart Manager widget.

Smart Manager is currently available for Samsung Galaxy S® 6 devices from T-Mobile, US Cellular, and MetroPCS.

Add the Smart Manager Widget

If the Smart Manager widget does not exist on any of your Home screens:

  1. Touch and hold a Home screen, and then touch Widgets at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Touch and hold the Smart Manager widget, position it on an available screen, and release it.

  3. Touch Back to exit the edit mode.

  4. You now have easy access to the Smart Manager application through the Smart Manager widget.

Access the Smart Manager

  1. Swipe to the Home screen containing the Smart Manager widget.

  2. The Smart Manager widget will display your device's Battery life, available Storage, RAM usage, and Security status.

  3. Touch CLEAN ALL to quickly clear the RAM status and delete Unnecessary data stored on your device.

Manage Battery Life

  1. Swipe to the Home screen containing the Smart Manager widget.

  2. Touch Battery in the Smart Manager widget.

  3. The Battery screen displays the percentage of battery power remaining and how long you might expect that power to last. Touch BATTERY USAGE to see which processes have been running since your device was last fully charged. Touch Power saving mode or Ultra power saving mode to set your device to conserve battery power. Touch DETAIL to view applications that have used an abnormal amount of battery power while the screen has been turned off.

Manage Storage

  1. Swipe to the Home screen containing the Smart Manager widget.

  2. Touch Storage in the Smart Manager widget.

  3. Review the information about your device's used and available system storage. Touch DELETE to delete Unnecessary data stored on your device. Touch DETAIL under User data to view and delete unused files and applications on your device.

  4. Touch DETAIL at the top of the page for a more detailed breakdown of your device's Total space, Available space, System memory, Used space, Cached data, and Miscellaneous files.

Manage RAM

RAM is the memory location your device temporarily loads information into when executing an application or using other device functions. If the RAM status indicator is full, clearing the RAM on your device will improve your device's performance.

  1. Swipe to the Home screen containing the Smart Manager widget.

  2. Touch RAM in the Smart Manager widget.

  3. The RAM screen displays the percentage of RAM remaining and which Active applications are currently using RAM. Touch END to end a single application, or touch END ALL to end all running applications. You should save any information you might need before exiting each application.

  4. Touch DETAILS to view more information about the applications and processes using RAM on your device.

Manage Security

  1. Swipe to the Home screen containing the Smart Manager widget.

  2. Touch Security in the Smart Manager widget.

  3. Review the information about your device's security status and any unauthorized system changes. If desired, touch Install My KNOX™ to install the My KNOX application, or touch the slider off to turn KNOX active protection on.

  4. Review the terms and conditions, mark the checkbox to agree, and then touch RESTART NOW to restart your device with KNOX active protection running.
