Where are my photos and videos stored on my Samsung Galaxy Note® 3, and can I move them?

By default, your captured pictures and videos are stored on your device's internal memory. If you have installed a microSD™ card, your device will ask if you would like to change the storage location to the microSD card the next time you open the Camera application.

Change the Default Save Location

Burst shot pictures and pictures taken using certain camera modes will be saved to the device regardless of the storage setting.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Camera.

  3. Touch Settings to access the camera settings.

  4. Swipe to and touch Storage location.

  5. Select either Device or Memory card.

Move Pictures in the Gallery

To move pictures from your device to another folder or album:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch Gallery.

  3. Open an album that contains pictures you want to move.

  4. Touch More options > Select item.

  5. Mark the checkbox for each picture you want to move.

  6. Touch More options > Move.

  7. Choose a folder on your device Gallery Folder or microSD card. Touch New album to move the selected files to a new folder or album.

Locate and Move Files

You can save room on your device by moving pictures, videos, and other files to your microSD™ card or to the My Files application.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

  2. Touch My Files.

  3. Swipe to and touch Device storage.

  4. Open the folder containing the pictures you want to move. The following table directs you to the folder where your media is stored:  

    Media saved from Storage location
    Browser Download
    Camera DCIM > Camera
    Video DCIM > Camera
    Screen capture Pictures > Screenshots
  5. Mark the checkboxes for the pictures you want to move.

  6. Touch More options > Move or Copy.

  7. Touch SD™ card.

  8. Select a folder, or touch CREATE FOLDER to make a new folder for the files.

  9. Touch MOVE HERE or PASTE HERE.
