Galaxy Tab S - How do I use Private mode on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S?

Hide personal content from being accessed by anyone else using your device. Private mode allows you to hide photos, videos, music and other files so they cannot be seen by others, without the use of a 3rd party application. Private mode is only available for certain applications.

A secure screen lock (Pattern, PIN, Fingerprint, or Password) is required to use Private Mode.

Set Up Private Mode

Private Mode does not protect your data from being accessed by other applications. To prevent data from being synchronized with external servers, please disable auto-sync settings on your device.

  1. From a Home screen, touch Apps > Settings  > DEVICE tab > Private mode  .



  2. Touch NEXT and then START to continue.



  3. Touch  slider  to turn Private Mode On

    Note: If you have not set up a Pattern, PIN, or Password you will be required to create one before accessing the page shown in the below screenshot.



  4. If prompted, configure a secure lock screen.  The following options are available in Private mode:



    • Touch Private mode access type to change the lock screen type.
    • Mark the check box for Auto disable to turn the feature ON, which automatically turns off Private mode when the screen turns off.

Using Private Mode

  1. When you find a file you want to make private, simply touch MORE  at the top right corner, and then select Move to Private.



  2. Private mode icon will appear on the file indicating it is private. The files will appear until you turn Private mode off, after turning the private mode off, the files will disappear. See Disable Private Mode below.



To select multiple files at once, follow the steps below:

  1. From the List view, touch MORE  > Select. 



  2. Select the file(s) and touch MORE  > Move to Private.



  3. Private mode icon will appear on the file(s) indicating it is private. The files will appear until you turn Private mode off, after turning the private mode off, the files will disappear. See Disable Private Mode below.

 

Disable Private Mode

  1. From a Home screen, touch Apps > Settings  > DEVICE tab > Private mode  .



  2. Touch  slider  to turn Private Mode OFF  . 



  3. Touch OK to disable Private mode.

Remove Files from Private Mode

To remove file(s) from Private mode, follow the steps below:

  1. From the List view, touch MORE  at the top right corner, and touch Select



  2. Select the file(s) you wish to remove from Private mode and touch MORE  at the top right corner, and touch Select.



  3. Assign a folder name and touch CREATE to remove files from Private and into new folder.
