What Location settings (GPS) are available on my Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2?

The Location settings let you choose how your device will determine your location.

Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Turn On Location Services

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Settings Settings Icon.
  3. Touch the CONNECTIONS tab.
    Note: To switch to the tab view, touch More options More Options Icon > Switch to tab view.
  4. Touch Location Location Settings Icon.
  5. Touch the slider Slider Off next to Location to turn it on Slider On.
  6. Touch AGREE on the consent screen.
    Note: This screen may not appear for all wireless service providers.
  7. Touch AGREE to let Google™ collect anonymous location data.
    Note: Mark the Don't show again checkbox to bypass this screen in the future.

Manage Accuracy Level

You can select the accuracy level of your device's locating method.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Settings Settings Icon.
  3. Touch the CONNECTIONS tab.
    Note: To switch to the tab view, touch More options More Options Icon > Switch to tab view.
  4. Touch Location Location Settings Icon.
  5. Touch Mode.
  6. Choose from the following options:
    • High accuracy: This option has the highest level of accuracy, using GPS, Wi-Fi®, and mobile data networks interchangeably to estimate your location. Data charges may apply when using this option.
    • Power saving: This option uses only Wi-Fi and mobile data networks to estimate your location. Data charges may apply when using this option.
    • GPS only: This option uses only the GPS network to estimate your location.

Manage Recent Location Requests

Your device will display any applications that have requested access to your location in the Recent location requests section. Under an application's name, you will see the battery usage required for this application to make the request. Touch an application to access its application information screen.

Use Location Services

Your device uses information from Wi-Fi or mobile data networks (or both) to help calculate your position. This lets Google use its location services to estimate your location and improve search results and other services.

  1. Touch Google Location History. You will be prompted to sign in to your Google Account if you have not already done so.
  2. Turn Location History on or off.

Manage My Places

My places lets your device recognize your location to provide relevant information and services. Add places such as Home, Work, or Car using Maps, Wi-Fi, or the Bluetooth® feature to recognize locations. For example, set your Home location using Maps to search for your location, or define your Car location by selecting your car from the paired Bluetooth devices.

Note: Only Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth feature are available for Car.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Settings Settings Icon.
  3. Touch the CONNECTIONS tab.
    Note: To switch to the tab view, touch More options More Options Icon > Switch to tab view.
  4. Touch Location Location Settings Icon.
  5. Touch My places.
  6. Touch  to add a new place. You can also modify one of the three predefined places: Home, Work, or Car.
  7. Enter a name for the place. You cannot rename a predefined location.
  8. Touch Select method to select how this location will be recognized. Choose Maps to define this location using GPS information. Choose Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to define this location by its connection to a Wi-Fi access point or Bluetooth device.
  9. Follow the steps for the method you choose. When using Maps, you will need to search for your location or use the current GPS coordinates. When using Wi-Fi, you will be asked to select the Wi-Fi access point. When using the Bluetooth feature, you will be asked to select the device from a list of available devices.
  10. Touch DONE to add the new location.

Delete a Location

Note: Predefined locations cannot be deleted.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Settings Settings Icon.
  3. Touch the CONNECTIONS tab.
    Note: To switch to the tab view, touch More options More Options Icon > Switch to tab view.
  4. Touch Location Location Settings Icon.
  5. Touch My places.
  6. Touch More options  > Select.
  7. Mark the checkbox for each location you want to delete.
  8. Touch  > DELETE.
