How to Setup the Screen Lock on Your Galaxy Tab E NOOK

Choose a method for unlocking your screen. Different Screen Locks have different levels of security and options.

Set a Screen Lock

  1. From a Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > Lock screen and security.

  2. Touch Screen lock type to select a screen lock and level of security.

  3. Select from the following screen lock type options:

    • Swipe: Swipe the screen to unlock it. This option provides no security.

    • Pattern: A screen unlock pattern is a tap gesture you create and use to unlock your device. This option provides medium security.

    • PIN: Select a PIN to use for unlocking the screen. This option provides medium to high security.

    • Password: Create a password for unlocking the screen. This option provides high security.

  4. After selecting a screen lock type (not available for Swipe), you will be prompted to select whether to show or hide sensitive notification content on the lock screen. Select to Show contentHide content, or Do not show notifications.

  5. Touch DONE to complete. 

Screen Lock Options

  • Show information: Show information such as the weather forecasts on the lock screen and owner's device information.

    • Weather: Set weather forecast for current location. 

    • Owner information: Display owner's device information.

  • Secure lock settings: Set you secure functions, such as Auto lock and Lock instantly with the Power Key.

  • Lock automatically: Set the time for auto lock.

  • Lock instantly with the Power Key: Touch the slider to turn it on.

  • Smart Lock: Unlock your mobile device automatically when trusted locations or other devices have been detected.

Show or Hide Sensitive Notification Content

After selecting a Screen Lock type, you can change whether to show or hide sensitive notification content on the lock screen.

  1. From a Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > Sounds and notifications.

  2. Touch Notifications on lock screen.

  3. Select from Show content, Hide content, or Do not show notifications

  4. Touch App notifications.

  5. Touch an app to set it's notification settings.

  6. Following options are available.

    Available options may vary depending on the app.

    • Block notifications: Block app alerts including notifications, sounds, and vibration.

    • Set as priority: Show notifications at the top of the notification panel and include them in the allowed list while Do not disturb mode is on.

    • Hide content on lock screen: Hide notification content from this app while the device is locked.
