How Do I Use the Camera on My Samsung Galaxy S6 Active? (SM-G890A)

Your device features both front- and rear-facing cameras, which let you capture photos and videos in a variety of modes. Edit photos and videos directly on your device, and share them on social media, with other devices, and more.

Open the Camera

The features on your screen may vary depending on the camera mode selected.

1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

Alternatively, you can access the Camera app by quickly pressing the Home button twice or swiping the Camera app on the Lock screen.

Switch Between Cameras

Navigate to Camera. Then, touch the camera switch icon to switch between the front and rear facing camera.

Capture Photos

1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

2. To focus on a specific area, touch the area on the screen.

3. To adjust the brightness, touch and drag the slider.

4. To take a photo, touch the capture icon.

   

Review Photos After Capture

1. Touch SETTINGS.

2. Touch the slider next to Review pictures.

3. When you capture a photo, it will briefly display with option to Delete. To view all your photos, touch Gallery.

Record Videos

1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

2. To begin recording, touch the record icon.

3. To take a still photo while recording, touch the capture icon.

4. To pause the recording, touch the pause icon.

5. To resume the recording, touch the record icon.

6. To finish and save the recording, touch the stop icon.

Camera Settings

To access the camera settings, touch the settings icon.

  • Video size (rear): Select the photo/video capture resolution. The available options are HD (1280x720) and VGA (640x480).
  • View mode: Select the view mode. The available options are Standard and Full screen.
  • Grid lines: Displays 3x3 grid on the camera screen. To turn on/off Grid lines, touch the slider next to Grid lines.
  • Location tags: Tags the location of where the photo was taken. To turn on/off Location tags, touch the slider next to Location tags.
  • Review pictures: Briefly display the captured photo with the option to delete.
  • Storage location: Select to save the captured photos/videos on your device, or SD card (not included). Option is not available if the device does not have a microSD card installed.
  • Volume keys function: Select how the Volume buttons are used when the camera app is open. The available options are: Take pictures, Record video, and Zoom.
  • Reset settings: Returns your camera settings to its factory default settings.
