What Is the Do Not Disturb Feature, and How Do I Use It on My Samsung Galaxy Tab A? (SM-P550, SM-T550, and SM-T350)

Do not disturb mode mutes all alerts on your device, unless you set them as exceptions. You can set Do not disturb mode to turn on or off automatically at scheduled times.

Turn On Do Not Disturb Mode

From Settings

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps  > Settings  > Do not disturb .

  2. Touch the slider  next to Turn on now to turn it on .


Using Quick Settings Panel Shortcuts

  1. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to access the Notification Panel.



  2. Swipe to the left on the Quick Settings Panel shortcuts at the top of the screen.



  3. Touch the Do not disturb shortcut to turn on the feature.

Manage Scheduling

If you turn on Do not disturb mode manually, it will not turn off automatically at a previously scheduled time.

You can set Do not disturb mode to turn on or off automatically at scheduled times.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps  >  Settings  > Do not disturb .

  2. Touch the slider  next to Turn on as scheduled to turn it on  so you can set the dates and times Do not disturb mode will be on or off.



  3. Touch Days and mark the checkboxes for the days when you want Do not disturb mode to turn on automatically. Touch DONE.




  4. Touch Start time. Touch the top or bottom of the hour and minute displays and AM or PM to set the time Do not disturb mode will turn on. Touch DONE.
    Note: Touch KEYPAD to enter the time directly.




  5. Touch End time. Touch the top or bottom of the hour and minute displays and AM or PM to set the time Do not disturb mode will turn off. Touch DONE.

Set Up Exceptions

If alarms are not set as an exception, Do not disturb mode will silence all alarms set on your device.

If there are select notifications you want to receive even when Do not disturb mode is turned on, you can set these notifications as exceptions.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps  > Settings  > Do not disturb .

  2. Touch Allow exceptions.



  3. Touch the exceptions you wish to allow. For this example, touch Alarms only.



  4. The following options are available in custom:
    • Alarms: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for alarms. This exception will turn on by default when exceptions are turned on.
    • Calls and/or messages from: Choose whose messages will cause your device to play a notification sound or vibrate. Select All, Favorite contacts only, or Contacts only.
    • Events: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for Calendar events.
    • Reminders: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for personal reminders.
    • Priority app notifications: Allow notification sounds and vibrations from specific applications.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb Mode

From Settings

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps  > Settings  > Do not disturb .

  2. Touch the slider  next to Turn on now to turn Do not disturb mode off .




Using the Notification Panel

  1. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to access the Notification Panel.



  2. Touch TURN OFF.



Using Quick Settings Panel Shortcuts

  1. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to access the Notification Panel.



  2. Swipe to the left on the Quick Settings Panel shortcuts at the top of the screen.



  3. Touch the Do not disturb shortcut to turn off the feature.
