How Do I Change the App Notifications on My Samsung Galaxy S5 Active? (SM-G870A)

You can adjust the notification settings for each of your apps.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Allow App Notifications

All app notifications turned on will display on your lock screen, status bar, or in the Notification Panel.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps. 



  2. Navigate to Settings > Sounds and notifications.

  3. Touch Application notifications.



  4. Touch an app to change the notification setting.

  5. Touch the slider for Allow notifications to turn on the notification. All notifications, including sounds and vibrations, will be turned on for this app.
    NOTE: Most apps may be turned on at default.



  6. When the notification setting is turned on, the words Allowed will appear under the app name. 

Set App Notifications as Priority

When your notification has been set to priority, the notifications will be displayed on your device at all times. (Even if Do not disturb feature is turned on)

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.



  2. Navigate to Settings > Sound and notifications.

  3. Touch Application notifications.



  4. Touch an app to set as priority.

  5. Touch the slider to turn on Set as priority. Notifications from this app will display at the top of the Notification Panel when Do not disturb setting is turned on. 



  6. When the notification priority setting is turned on, the words Set as priority will appear under the app name. 

Hide Content on Lock Screen

The notification will appear on the lock screen if the setting is set to Show content. If Notifications on lock screen is set to Hide content or Do not show notifications, the notifications will be hidden from the Lock screen.

Prevent your device from displaying notification content for certain apps on your Lock screen. 

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.  



  2. Navigate to Settings > Sound and notifications.

  3. Touch Application notifications.



  4. Touch an app to hide from the Lock screen.

  5. Touch the slider to turn on Hide on lock screen.



  6. When an app is hidden, the words Hidden on lock screen will appear under the app name.
