How do I Change the App Notifications on My Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1? (SM-T587P)

You can control which apps push notifications to your device using the app advanced notification settings.

Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Allowing the App Notifications

Allow notifications for an app means notifications will display on your lock screen, status bar, or in the Notification Panel. For example, if you allow Gmail notifications, your device will display a notification and will not play a sound or vibrate when you receive notifications from Gmail.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > Notifications.

  2. Touch ADVANCED.

  3. Touch Chrome.

  4. Touch the slider next to Allow notifications to turn on notification allowing. All notifications, including sounds and vibrations, will be turned on for this app.

  5. Touch the Back key to manage the notification settings for more apps. Apps with notifications turned on are identified by the word Allowed under the app name.

Setting the App Notifications as Priority

Setting  Notifications as priority means notifications will display at the top of the Notification Panel, even when your device is in Do not disturb mode.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > Notifications.

  2. Touch ADVANCED.

  3. Touch an app whose notification priority you want to change.

  4. Touch the slider next to Set as priority to turn on the priority setting. Notifications from this App will display at the top of the Notification Panel when your Do not disturb settings allow priority notifications.

  5. Touch the Back key to manage the notification settings for more Apps. Apps with the priority setting turned on are identified by the words Set as priority under the App name.

Hiding the Content on Lock Screen

This option will only display when Notifications on lock screen is set to Show content. If Notifications on lock screen is set to Hide content or Do not show notifications, lock screen notification content is automatically hidden for all apps.

Prevent your device from displaying notifications for specific apps when your device is locked.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > Notifications.

  2. Touch ADVANCED.

  3. Touch the app from which you want to hide notification content.

  4. Touch the slider next to Show content on lock screen to turn off notification content blocking.

  5. Touch the Back key to manage the notification settings for more apps. Apps with notification content hidden are identified by the words Hide content on lock screen under the app name.
