Monitor and Extend the Battery Life for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Oh, no! You forgot to charge your phone last night and now you're low on battery. Don't fret, with the S7 and S7 edge's ability to use the remaining battery life efficiently, your phone won't die without a fight. You can also check which apps drain your battery and monitor how your battery is being used.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Monitor Battery Life

Keep an eye on your battery usage and never deal with a dead phone again. Your phone estimates how many hours, or minutes, of power you have left. Here's how to monitor the battery life:

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Battery.

  3. Touch BATTERY USAGE.

  4. The estimated past and predicted usage time is displayed. The last full charge and the estimated usage time remaining will also be displayed.

Power Saving Mode

Consider this your best line of defense against a drained battery. Use power-saving modes and start conserving battery.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Battery.

  3. To extend your battery life, select the desired mode. For this example, touch MAX.

  4. Touch APPLY.

  5. To turn off the feature, touch Settings.

  6. Touch Battery.

  7. Touch OFF.

Battery Basics

Here, we break down the basics of battery usage for you.

Ways to charge your battery properly and safely:

  • To charge your device, use only the supplied Samsung USB/charging cables and avoid third-party accessories.

  • Ensure the USB/charging cable is connected securely and is not being blocked by your device cover or case.

  • Make sure the battery or charging indicator appears on the device's display when the USB/charging cable is connected.

  • Use the outlet on your wall instead of your computer for best results.

  • Disconnect the device from the USB/charging cable after the battery is fully charged.

Reduce Battery Consumption

  • Use the Auto-Brightness feature or lower screen brightness.

  • Disable all services such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or NFC as these functions will attempt to establish a connection when not actively in use, thus using extra battery power.

  • Close all apps not in use using the recent apps button.

  • Always use the Samsung authorized charges and accessories.

  • Turn off the Location on service or GPS service.
