Use the Notification Panel on your Galaxy S10

Galaxy S10 with Notification Panel open

With the Notification Panel, you'll never miss a text, call, or an app notification, and you can view recent messages and access certain functions on your Galaxy S10e, S10, or S10+. To make things even better, you can snooze notifications or access an app's notification settings from the Lock screen.

View notifications

What's the status of that app you downloaded from the Play Store? To view your notifications, swipe down from the top of your phone's screen. Notifications will be displayed under the Quick settings panel.

  • To open a notification, touch it.

  • To clear a notification, swipe to the left or right.

  • To clear all notifications, touch Clear.

  • To close the notification panel, swipe up or touch Back.

Snooze notifications

Want to save that notification for later? On the S10, swipe down to open the Notification Panel. Then, swipe your desired notification slightly to the left or right. But be careful, because if you swipe too fast or too far, you might close the icons. Touch the Snooze icon (it looks like a bell), choose your desired option, and then touch Save.

App icon badges

App icon badges are the small dots that appear next to an app's icon when it receives a notification. These badges make sure you never miss an important text or email.

From Settings, search for and select App icon badges. Touch App icon badges, and then touch the slider to turn them on or off.

You can also display the dots with no numbers if you prefer. Just choose Show without number.

Quick settings

Certain settings on your phone have shortcuts built in. Let's say you're about to take off, and you need to turn on Airplane mode. You can access it and other settings from the Quick settings panel.

To access it, swipe down from the top of a Home screen using two fingers. Then, touch your desired setting; the icon will glow when the setting is activated.

Note: You can also swipe left to view more Quick settings.

Fun trick with fingerprint sensor

Here's a fun way to open or close the Notification panel: just swipe your finger up and down on your phone's fingerprint sensor.

To turn on this function, from Settings, search for and select Finger sensor gestures. Touch the slider to turn it on. After the feature is turned on, give it a try by swiping your finger up and on the fingerprint sensor.

Note: This option is not available on phones with the in-display fingerprint reader.
