Back Up and Restore Galaxy S6

Losing your phone doesn't have to mean losing all your data and starting from scratch. Back up your S6 to a Samsung or Google account so if you ever lose or damage your S6, you can easily restore important data. What a relief! Learn how to Add an Account to back up to.

Back Up and Restore Using Your Samsung Account

    There's no need to worry about losing important information. Your Samsung account's got you covered. Check out the steps below to learn how to back up and restore with your Samsung account.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.  

  2. Touch Search, and then search for and select Backup and restore.  

  3. Touch Backup Settings.

  4. Touch Auto back up or BACK UP NOW.  

  5. If you want to restore your data from the previous Back Up, touch Restore.

    Auto back up will start when your phone has been connected to the same Wi-Fi network for an hour and is charging with the screen turned off. Your phone will only back itself up once every 24 hours.

Back up and Restore Using Your Google Account

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.  

  2. You can also back up and restore using a Google account. Learn how:

  3. Touch Search, and then search for and select Backup and restore.  

  4. To back up your Google Account data, touch the slider.

  5. Touch Backup account.  

  6. Touch the account you want to back up.  

  7. You will be prompted to log into your Google account if you have not signed into your Google account previously.   

    Make sure you have an existing Google account. If not, create a new Google account following the on-screen prompt.

  8. To restore the app data when the app is reinstalled, make sure the Automatic restore feature has been turned on.
