Set a Screen Lock on Your Galaxy Tab A

Choose and set up a screen lock that best fits you to increase security and personalize your Galaxy Tab A. For highest security, learn how to Register Fingerprints.

Change the Screen Lock Type

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.  

  2. Touch Search, and then search for and select Screen lock type.  

  3. The following screen lock options are available:  

    • Swipe: No security

    • Pattern: Enter a personal pattern

    • PIN: Create a personal PIN

    • Password: Set a personal password

    • None: No screen lock

Secure Lock Settings

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.   

  2. Touch Search, and then search for and select  Secure lock settings.   

  3. To change the secured lock time, touch Lock automatically.   

    You can also find additional options:

    • Make pattern/PIN/password visible: Allow visibility of the pattern/PIN/password.

    • Lock automatically: Lock the tablet 5 seconds after the screen turns off automatically.

    • Lock instantly with power key: Instantly requires security to unlock.

    • Auto factory reset: After 15 incorrect attempts to unlock your tablet, it will be reset to factory deafult settings, and all data will be erased, including files and downloaded apps.

    • Lock network and security: Keep network and security-related functions locked while your tablet is locked, making it easier to locate and protect if it's lost or stolen.

  4. Choose when the tablet will lock.
