Use Device Maintenance on Galaxy Tab E

Keep up with the nuts and bolts of your tablet’s performance. Device maintenance provides an overview of the status of your battery, storage, RAM, and security. You can also automatically optimize your tablet's system resources.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Quick Optimization

The Quick Optimization feature improves the tablet's performance through the following actions:

  • Identifying apps that use excessive battery power and clearing unneeded items from memory.

  • Deleting unnecessary files and closing apps running in the background.

  • Scanning for malware.


To run Quick Optimization, navigate to Apps > Settings > Device maintenance > OPTIMIZE NOW. Touch DONE to finish. 


Battery is your tablet’s lifeline. Learn about the various ways you can change battery settings to optimize your battery life. First, navigate to Apps > Settings. Touch Device maintenance, and then touch Battery. Check out what options you have to save your battery:

  • Battery usage: View details of battery usage by item.

  • Power saving mode: Extend battery life by selecting a power saving mode. Choose OFF, MID, or MAX. Estimated remaining battery life for each mode is provided.

  • App power monitor: Put apps to sleep so that they do not use battery power when not in use.

  • Unmonitored apps: Select apps to exclude from being put to sleep by the App power monitor.

  • More Options > Advanced settings: Configure advanced battery settings.


If you are worried about your tablet being overloaded with unnecessary data like cached and residual files, it’s about time you clear out your storage. Here’s to happy cleaning.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Device maintenance.

  3. Touch Storage.

  4. Touch CLEAN NOW to free up storage space by deleting unnecessary data, such as cached, residual, and advertisement files.
