How to talk to the cashier
Say "I would like to Tap" or "Can I Tap?"
If they support Tap, simply follow the below steps and Tap on the Tap-and-Pay symbol
If they don't support Tap, simply say "This is Samsung Pay, it should work. Can I please try?"
Ask the cashier to process the payment as they would for a normal card transaction
Follow the steps below by holding the phone next to the payment terminal where you would normally swipe a card
Paying with your phone
to launch Samsung Pay
with your fingerprint, iris or PIN
hover your phone just above the Tap-and-Pay symbol
the phone next to the payment terminal if Tap-and-Pay is not supported
If you see the NFC icon, always tap on the icon first. If the payment is unsuccessful, then hold your phone next to the payment terminal where you would normally swipe your card.
What to do when prompted for last 4 or random digits
If you are holding your phone next to the payment terminal you might be prompted for the last 4 digits or 4 random digits from your card number. This number is displayed on the right side of your card in Samsung Pay, as shown in the steps below.
Hold phone next to terminal
Last 4 digits or random 4 digits might be requested
Input the digits from the digital card number as highlighted in red
What to do when terminal is in sleep mode and not displaying anything on the screen
Sometimes a payment terminal might be in sleep mode, and the screen will be completely blank. To wake-up the terminal, simply press any button on the terminal. If the payment terminal still does not wake-up, open Samsung Pay, select your payment card, and authenticate. Then place your phone next to the payment terminal, where you would normally swipe your card and follow the on-screen prompts.
What to do when payment terminal prompts for PIN
Enter your actual plastic card PIN, not your Samsung Pay PIN.
