Why Am I Unable To Login To My Chromebook?

Unabled Login to Chromebook

If you are unable to login to your Chromebook, follow the steps below:

1. Verify that you have an active network connection by clicking on the network icon in the lower right corner of the screen. A popup will appear telling you what network you are connected to.


2. If you receive the error "Sorry, your email or password could not be verified."

    • You may have typed in an invalid account.

    • You may have mistyped your password. If you cannot remember your password, go to https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery or sign in as a guest.

    • Your account does not exist on this chromebook and you are not connected to the internet. Your chromebook must be connected to the internet when creating a new account.

    • You are connected to the internet, but behind a portal (ex: In a coffee shop or a hotel with pay internet).

    • You've recently changed your password and are not connected to the internet. Try using your old password. Once you establish a network connection, the password should be updated locally.

3. Verify that you have a valid Google account. Some older Google Enterprise accounts are not compatible with Chrome OS. If you can login to another Google service, Blogger, Picasa, Reader, etc., then you have a compatible Google account.

4. If you receive the error "Sorry, you are not allowed to login on this device.", then the owner of the chromebook is only allowing specific users to login. Ask the owner to add your account by following the below steps:

    • Click on the taskbar and select Settings.

    • Click 'Manage other users...' under Users.

    • Enter a name or address under Add users and click Done.
