Why Is there Bad tasting/smelling water?

1. As Initial installation, water must be extracted enough.

2. As Bad Water connection, water line is possibly contaminated.


1. In case of initial installation.

Bad tasting / smelling water is most commonly experienced with the first few gallons of water the refrigerator dispenses. Samsung recommends you dispense 2-3 gallons (amount of water tank) of water after you initially set the water line up to flush the system.

Ice bucket is recommended to clean before using ice and do not use ice for 1 or 2 days and empty the ice box once it produces full of ice in ice bucket.  

2. In case of water flow route contamination

When you install water connection, do not forget to install water filter before dispensing water.

If you dispense water without water filter installation, water hose & water tank will be contaminated and hard to clean it back.

3. In case of filter contamination

If your refrigerator is not brand new, and you are experiences an odor in the ice or water, replace the filter.

The filter may not be clogged, but it may be contaminated with excessive impurities.

After installing the new filter, flush the system by dispensing approximately 2-3 gallons of water.


[Important Reminders]

1. If you want to drink purified water, you can directly connect water purifier to water hose at the back of fridge.  

2. It is highly recommended to use water filter provided by Samsung. (It is also available in any Appliance store or internet.)
