Gear S3 Frontier: How Do I reset my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier(SM-R760)?

Your Gear S3 lets you delete all of your personal information from the device. This feature ensures your data is removed before sending the device in for replacement or repair, properly disposing of the device, or giving the device to a friend or family member to use.

Note: The screens and steps shown below may vary by wireless service provider and your mobile device.

Before resetting your device


Before resetting your device, you will need to back up your data and, if necessary, turn off Reactivation lock. This will ensure your data can be restored and that you are able to access your device after it is reset.

Important: Your personal information cannot be recovered after using this feature. Please back up any information you need using the Samsung Gear app on your mobile device prior to using this feature.

Back up your data


1. From the Home screen of your mobile device, touch Apps.

2. Touch Samsung Gear.

Note: The Samsung Gear app may be located in the Samsung folder by default on some devices.

3. Touch the SETTINGS tab.

4. Scroll to and touch About Gear.

5. Touch Back up and restore.

Turn off Reactivation lock


1. From the Home screen of your mobile device, touch Apps.

2. Touch Samsung Gear.

Note: The Samsung Gear app may be located in the Samsung folder by default on some devices.

3. Touch the SETTINGS tab.

5. Touch Reactivation lock.

6. Touch the slider to turn Reactivation lock off.

7. Enter the password for your Samsung account and touch CONFIRM.

Reset your device


1. From the Watch screen, press the Home button.

2. Touch Settings.

3. Scroll to and touch Gear info.

4. Scroll to and touch Reset Gear.

5. Touch the checkmark to confirm the reset, which will delete all downloaded apps and personal data.

Hard reset (experts only)


If you forget your screen lock PIN, you can perform a hard reset and restore your device to factory settings. Your personal information cannot be recovered after using this feature.

1. Turn off your Gear S3.

2. Press and hold the Home key until REBOOTING displays at the bottom of the screen.

3. Press the Home button repeatedly until the Select REBOOT MODE screen displays.

4. Press the Home button until Recovery is selected, and then press and hold the Home button.

5. Keep holding the Home button until the Gear S3 begins rebooting.
