How Do I troubleshoot applications in Safe Mode on my Samsung Galaxy S5?

You can boot up your device in Safe mode to troubleshoot whether added applications are causing problems, such as reboots, slowdowns, crashes, battery drainage or overheating.

Safe mode will load only basic system software and it will disable applications that may be resource-heavy at start-up.

If your device is working properly in Safe mode uninstall third-party applications or application updates that you suspect may be problematic using the Application manager. The apps and updates that are most likely causing your devices problems are the ones you downloaded right before the problem(s) on your device began. It's worth checking the reviews of apps in the stores you downloaded them from (Samsung Apps or Google Play).

Removing an application

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps  Apps .
  2. Touch Settings Settings  .
  3. Touch Application manager ApplicationManager   .
  4. If necessary swipe to the Downloaded tab. Touch an application in the list.
  5. Touch Uninstall > Uninstall.

Note: applications preloaded on your device cannot be uninstalled but you can uninstall any updates you have applied for such apps by touching Uninstall updates > OK.
