How Do I use the Bluetooth feature on my Samsung Galaxy Tab?S 8.4?

Last Update Date : Apr 25. 2018

Bluetooth technology is a wireless connectivity feature that has a short range and low power consumption. Using your device's Bluetooth transmitter, you can connect to a wireless headset and entertainment devices like wireless speakers. You can also connect to many car infotainment systems and share your device’s music. You can share content, such as pictures and contact cards, between two devices.

Connect to a Bluetooth Device

1. To connect to a Bluetooth device, turn it on and make sure it is in discoverable mode or visible.

2. On your device, from the Home screen, touch Apps 1 > Settings 1 > Bluetooth1 . Touch the slider 1 to turn Bluetooth on 1 .

NOTE: You can also turn on your device's Bluetooth transmitter using the Quick Panel shortcut. Open the Notification Panel by swiping from the top of the screen to the bottom, and then touch the Bluetooth icon. When Bluetooth is on, the icon will appear green.

3. Your device will begin scanning for available Bluetooth devices, which will appear in the list under AVAILABLE DEVICES.

4. Touch the name of the device you want to connect to. If requested, verify that the passkey matches on both devices and touch OK. If you are connecting to an older Bluetooth device, you may be asked for a PIN. The default PIN for many devices is four zeros—0000. Some devices have PINs specific to the device. The PIN will be in the device’s documentation.

Mark the checkbox next to Not visible to other devices or Only visible to paired devices to allow your device to be seen by other devices. When the checkbox is marked, a timeout is displayed next to Visible to all nearby Bluetooth devices. If the time reaches 0:00, mark the checkbox again to reset the timer.

Unpair Devices

To unpair a device you have connected to, from the Home screen, touch Apps 1 > Settings 1 > Bluetooth 1 . Touch next to the name of the device in the PAIRED DEVICES list, and then touch Unpair. The other options available on this screen will vary depending on the device you are connected to. You can touch Rename to change the name of the device.

Share Content

Many of the applications on your device let you share content via Bluetooth technology. When using applications like the Gallery and Google Chrome™, touch 1 . Then touch Bluetooth1 and select a device to share with. The other device will need to accept the transfer request.

NOTE: You may need to touch More options and look for Share or Share via.

Receive Content

When another device sends content to your device, you will see a File transfer request letting you know the device’s Bluetooth name and requesting you either Accept or Decline the request to connect. If you accept the request, the content will be downloaded from the sender and stored on your device in Apps 1 > My Files 1 > Device storage1 > Download 1 . You can also see the transferred files by opening the Notification Panel and touching Bluetooth share: Received.

Additional Bluetooth Settings

From the Bluetooth menu, touch More options1 for the following options:

    • Visibility timeout: Adjust the timeout your device uses when it is visible to all nearby Bluetooth devices.

    • Received files: Open the folder where received Bluetooth files are stored.

    • Rename device: Change the name your device displays when seen by nearby devices.

    • Help: Access tutorials for your device's Bluetooth feature.
