S7: What is the Do not disturb feature, and how do I use it on my Samsung Galaxy S7?

Do not disturb


Do not disturb mode mutes all calls and alerts on your device, unless you set them as exceptions. You can set Do not disturb mode to turn on or off automatically at scheduled times, such as during meetings or when you go to sleep.

Note: Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Turn On Do Not Disturb Mode


From Settings

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps .

2. Touch Settings .

3. Scroll to and touch Do not disturb Do Not Disturb.

4. Touch the slider Curseur Off next to Enable now to turn Do not disturb mode on Curseur On.

Note : When Do not disturb is active, a specific icon is displayed on the top left corner.

From the Quick Settings Panel

1. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to open the Notification Panel.

2. Touch to open the Quick Settings Panel.

3. Touch Do not disturb to turn on the feature.

Allow Exceptions


Note: If alarms are not set as an exception, Do not disturb mode will silence all alarms set on your device.

If there are select notifications you want to receive even when Do not disturb mode is turned on, you can set these notifications as exceptions.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps .

2. Touch Settings .

3. Scroll to and touch Do not disturb Do Not Disturb.

4. Touch Allow exceptions.

5. Choose whether to allow No exceptions, Alarms only, or Custom.

Note: We strongly recommend you to choose Alarms only or Custom.

6. If you chose Custom, touch the slider Curseur off next to each exception you want to turn on Curseur on.

7. Choose from the following options:

 • Alarms: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for alarms. This feature will be turned on automatically.

 • Repeat callers: If you receive more than one call from the same number within 15 minutes, the call will be allowed to ring.

 • Calls from: Choose whose calls will cause your device to play a notification sound or vibrate. Select All, Contacts only, Favorite contacts only, or None.

 • Messages from: Choose whose messages will cause your device to play a notification sound or vibrate. Select All, Contacts only, Favorite contacts only, or None.

 • Event/task alerts: Allow notification sounds and vibrations for Calendar events and tasks.

 • Reminders: Allow reminders from applications that support them.

 • Priority app notifications: Touch the slider next to each application you want to turn on as an exception.

Turn On Scheduling


You can set Do not disturb mode to turn on or off automatically at scheduled times.

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps .

2. Touch Settings .

3. Scroll to and touch Do not disturb Do Not Disturb.

4. Touch the slider Curseur Off next to Enable as scheduled to turn Do not disturb mode on Curseur On at scheduled time.

5. Touch Days. Mark the checkboxes for the days when you want Do not disturb mode to turn on automatically. Then, touch the Back icon.

6. Touch Start time. Touch the hour and minute displays and AM or PM to enter the time Do not disturb mode will turn on. Touch DONE.

7. Touch End time. Touch the hour and minute displays and AM or PM to enter the time Do not disturb mode will turn off. Touch DONE.

From Settings

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps .

2. Touch Settings .

3. Scroll to and touch Do not disturb Do Not Disturb.

From the Quick Settings Panel

1. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom to open the Notification Panel.
