TV detects the wifi router but can't establish a wireless connection, meanwhile, other devices are connected and working properly.

Samsung 2016 TV can't recognize customized SSID name from some router manufacturers. Those makers didn't use the UNICODE encoding method for the SSID name. In consequence, your TV can't connect to those type of routers.


Samsung is preparing an improved software that will fix the issue. Check back for model specific Software updates at Samsung Product Support page. 


In the meantime, follow the instructions below to change your Wi-Fi router's name: 

1 Check your connection : Make sure that the router is powered on, and your computer is connected to an Ethernet port (for a Wired connection) and to a Wifi network (for a Wireless connection).
2 Open a web browser window and enter your router's IP address in the Address bar.

Note: To find your IP address, open any web brower and search "my ip address". 

3 Enter your ID/User Name and Password to log in.

Note: If ID/PW wasn't changed during setup, you can search the web for the router manufacturer's default ID/PW.

4 Go to Wifi settings and change the SSID field. Make sure you enter a new name using the latin alphabet and numbers only.

Note: Menus and access route maybe different depending on your router's maker.

5 Save the new setting and connect your TV to the router wtih new SSID name.

Important: You will need to re-connect all the previously connected devices to the wireless network with the new SSID name.
