1. Setting up Samsung Health Monitor
Before using Samsung Health Monitor
Before you can start measuring your blood pressure using Samsung Health Monitor, you must set up your profile and calibrate your Galaxy Watch.
1) Ensure that your Galaxy Watch supports Samsung Health Monitor.
* Supported watches: Galaxy Watch3, Galaxy Watch Active2 and later released Galaxy Watch and Active models. (excluding Galaxy Fit)
2) Ensure that your Galaxy Watch is paired via Bluetooth with the Galaxy smartphone.
3) Connect your Galaxy Watch to the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone to update to the latest software.
4) If Samsung Health Monitor is installed on your Galaxy Watch, open the app and follow the on-screen set-up instructions.
1) Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your watch and follow instructions to download the Samsung Health Monitor app on your phone.
2) Activate the Samsung Health Monitor on your phone. Read and agree to the terms and conditions, Privacy Policy and set your profile.

2. Calibrating your Galaxy Watch
Precautions before use
To ensure more accurate calibration, do the following:
1) 30 minutes before doing the calibration, do not have any alcohol or caffeine, and do not smoke, exercise, or bathe.
2) Make sure your arm and wrists are dry and free of excessive perspiration or skin lotion.
3) Do the calibration indoors in a quiet place.
4) Put a comfortable chair next to a table.
5) Sit in the chair with your back well supported, your legs uncrossed, and your feet flat on the ground.
6) Let your hands and forearms rest on the table.
7) Rest in this position for at least 5 minutes before starting the calibration.
8) When you start the calibration, stay still and do not move your arm or talk while the cuff-based blood pressure monitor performs the measurement.
9) During the measurement, breathe normally. Do not try to deepen or slow down your breath.
To calibrate your Galaxy Watch
1) Place the blood pressure cuff on an upper arm.
2) Wear the Samsung Galaxy Watch on the wrist of the other arm. Make sure the Galaxy Watch strap is snug around your wrist, but not too tight.
3) Place your Galaxy smartphone on the table, within easy reach.
4) On your Galaxy smartphone, open Samsung Health Monitor and follow the on-screen instructions to do the following.
* Note: Measure 3 times total within 30 minutes to complete the calibration. To keep your blood pressure measurements accurate, you will need to recalibrate every 28 days. You can make recalibrations at any time regardless of the cycle by selecting Recalibrate from the on screen menu.

3. Measuring your blood pressure using your

Taking measurements after preparation
After you have calibrated your Galaxy Watch with an upper-arm, cuff-based blood pressure monitor, you're ready to use the Samsung Health Monitor on your Galaxy Watch to measure your blood pressure. You won't need to use the cuff-based monitor again until the next calibration in 28 days.
1) Wear your Galaxy Watch on the same wrist as during the calibration and make sure the Galaxy Watch strap is snug around your wrist, but not too tight.

4. Reviewing your blood pressure
measurements
On your Galaxy Watch
After Samsung Health Monitor on the Galaxy Watch successfully measures your blood pressure, the Galaxy Watch and the Galaxy smartphone display the following results:
· Systolic blood pressure (BP)
· Diastolic blood pressure (BP)
· Pulse (heart rate)
Do not change your medications or dosage based on these numbers. Always talk to your doctor first.
· Measurement Range:
Systolic 70-180mmHg, Diastolic 40-120mmHg
· Calibration Range:
Systolic 80-170mmHg, Diastolic 50-110mmHg
On your Galaxy smartphone
When a Bluetooth connection is established between your Galaxy Watch and the Galaxy smartphone you used to calibrate the Galaxy Watch, your measurement results are synced to the Samsung Health Monitor app on the Galaxy smartphone. You can share this information with your doctor for review or consultation.
Individuals with Systolic BP and Diastolic BP in 2 categories should be designated to the higher BP category.

Things you need to know before using the Blood Pressure app:
1. The Blood Pressure app should not be used for any diagnostic purposes regarding hypertension or other heart conditions. The Blood Pressure app is not meant to replace traditional methods of diagnosis or treatment by a qualified healthcare professional.
2. Do Not use the Blood Pressure app if you have any of the following conditions:
- Arrhythmia
- Prior heart failure or heart attack
- Peripheral vascular disease or compromised circulation
- Valvular disease (diseases concerning the aortic valve)
- Cardiomyopathy
- Other known cardiovascular disease
- End-stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
- Diabetes
- Neurological disorder (i.e. tremors)
- Clotting disorder or if you are taking prescribed blood thinners
- Tattoo(s) on the wrist where you will wear the Galaxy Watch
3. The Blood Pressure app uses optical signals collected from a sensor on the Galaxy Watch and needs a good-quality signal in order to calculate blood pressure. The quality of the signal can be affected by various factors, such as the watch sensor's cleanness or the measured area's optical properties.
4. DO NOT change your medications or dosages without first consulting your doctor.
- A Samsung Galaxy Watch* and Samsung Galaxy smartphone (Android P OS version or higher) are required to use Samsung Health Monitor app. Due to country/region restrictions in obtaining approval/registration as a medical device, Samsung Health Monitor app only works on watches and smartphones purchased in the country/region where the service is currently available. However, service may be restricted/unavailable when users do a factory reset of the phone or delete and re-install the Samsung Health Monitor app while traveling in non-service country/region.

Electrocardiogram(ECG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart and the information is recorded on a graph. ECG is currently the best way to detect irregular rhythms. In addition to the existing on-demand ECG function, the app also provide Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) feature which analyzes pulse rate data, on the background, to identify episodes of irregular heart rhythms suggestive of atrial fibrillation (AFib) and provides a notification suggesting the user record an ECG to analyze the heart rhythm.

1. Pair your devices
In order to use ECG app (with IHRN feature), you must pair your Galaxy Watch with a Galaxy smartphone as following steps.
1) Ensure that your Galaxy Watch supports Samsung Health Monitor.
*ECG App (v1.1) is compatible with a Galaxy Watch3, Galaxy Watch Active2 and later released Galaxy Watch and Active models.

2. Activating IHRN and preparing to take an ECG
To set up the ECG App:
1) Update your Galaxy Watch to the latest version software.
2) Install the Samsung Health Monitor app on your phone. The app is available from the Galaxy Store.
3) Open Samsung Health Monitor on your phone and follow the on-screen instructions.
4) After you’ve set up the ECG App, you can take an ECG using Samsung Health Monitor on your Galaxy Watch.
To turn on the irregular heart rhythm notification feature:
1) Set up the ECG App and record an ECG that isn't poor quality.
2) Tap Get started on the ECG app launcher screen.
3) Follow the on-screen instructions.
*If you receive an irregular heart rhythm notification, take an ECG as soon as possible so you have a more accurate record of your rhythm.

3. Recording an ECG using your Galaxy Watch
1) Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy Watch.
2) Make sure the Galaxy Watch is snug on your wrist.
3) Rest your forearms comfortably on a table and then rest a fingertip of the opposite hand lightly on the Galaxy Watch’s top button for 30 seconds. Remain still and do not talk while the Galaxy Watch takes the measurement. When the recording process has finished, the ECG results will appear on your watch. Note: Don't press the top button during recording; pressing the top button during recording will stop the recording.
4) Scroll up and down to see your ECG result. If you are experiencing symptoms, tap Add and on the Symptoms screen, scroll through the list and tap each symptom you are experiencing. Then tap Save to add the symptoms to your ECG report and to return to the Results screen.
5) Tap Done to go back to the Start screen. You can review your ECG report in the ECG Monitor app on your phone. (Note that syncing requires that the watch and phone are paired using Bluetooth.)

4. Reviewing your ECG reports on your Galaxy
After you take an ECG, the ECG data is synced to the paired Galaxy smartphone where a PDF report is created.
1) ECG analysis result just after measurement is sent from Galaxy Watch to Galaxy smartphone.
2) On phone app, you can retrieve detailed results transmitted from Galaxy Watch and you can see the classified results as follows.
∙ Sinus Rhythm : A Sinus Rhythm is when the heart beats in a consistent rhythm. This occurs when the heart’s upper and lower chambers beat in sync. A Sinus Rhythm result is based only on that particular ECG recording and doesn’t mean your heart beats uniformly all the time. Also, a Sinus Rhythm result does not guarantee that you are not experiencing an arrhythmia or other health condition. If you are not feeling well regardless of your result, contact your doctor.
∙ Atrial Fibrillation : Atrial Fibrillation, or AFib, is when the heart beats in an irregular rhythm. This occurs when the heart’s upper chambers beat out of sync with the lower chambers. AFib is the most common form of irregular heartbeat. If not treated, it can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure, and other health problems.
∙ Inconclusive : An Inconclusive result means that the ECG recording could not be classified. This could happen if:
- The heart rate during the recording was less than 50 bpm.
- The heart rate during recording was greater than 100 bpm and the rhythm was not AFib.
- The heart rhythm was AFib and the heart rate was greater than 120 bpm.
- The heart rhythm was neither sinus rhythm nor AFib.
If you get this result repeatedly, contact your doctor.
∙ Poor recording : A Poor recording result means Samsung Health Monitor was not able to analyze the data. A poor recording usually happens because your body moved during recording or the Galaxy Watch didn't have enough skin contact with your wrist or finger.

Sleep analysis has become more advanced with Galaxy Watch. You can detect signs of sleep apnea through the Sleep apnea feature on Galaxy Watch, the first of its kind authorized by the FDA. The feature is available on Galaxy Watch7 and will soon be available on Galaxy Watch4 and later models.

2. Turn on the Sleep apnea feature
Precautions before use
1) On your watch or phone, open Samsung Health Monitor
2) Tap Sleep apnea, and toggle on Sleep apnea feature
3) Read instructions carefully and tap continue to turn on the feature
3. Sleep with Galaxy Watch on (2 nights within 10 days)
1) Wear your watch snugly to sleep on 2 nights within 10 days of turning on the feature. Approximately 4 hours of sleep is required each night for the watch to get enough data for a result.
2) Your watch will look for breathing disruptions based on how many relative decreases in blood oxygen you have during your sleep to detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea.
When you’re ready to sleep:
1) When you sleep, be sure to wear the watch snugly on your wrist and away from the wrist bone.
2) In order to get a result, you need to wear the watch for 2 nights within 10 days.

Things you need to know before using the Sleep apnea feature
You shouldn’t use this feature if you’re pregnant or have temporary symptoms of impaired breathing from flu, asthma, allergies, or any other condition, since results may be inaccurate.
DON’T use this Sleep apnea feature if you’ve already been diagnosed with sleep apnea.
DON’T use the Sleep apnea feature if you’ve been diagnosed with any of these conditions:
• Movement related conditions: Parkinson’s, Tremor, Periodic Leg Movement During Sleep (PLMS)
• Cardiac conditions: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), atrial fibrillation
• Lung conditions: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis.
