Add accounts to your Galaxy phone

To access apps, send emails, or use certain features - like syncing data - on your Galaxy phone, you need to sign into an account. Or, if you want to download that brand-new app from the Play Store, you will need a Google account. Luckily, you can add these accounts and more to your Galaxy device.

Note: Information provided applies to devices sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary for smartphones sold in other countries.

The best way to get the most from your Galaxy phone is to add a Samsung account, so you can experience all of the exclusive features.

To add a Samsung account, navigate to Settings, and then Samsung account at the top of the screen.

Add a Samsung account

Then enter your Samsung account info to sign in. If you do not already have an account, do not worry. Just tap Create account to make one, or create one on the Samsung Account website. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Cannot live without Google? To use the Google Play Store and download apps from it, you need to add a Google account.

From Settings, swipe to and select Accounts and backup. Tap Manage accounts, and then tap Add account. Tap Google.

Add a Google account

Enter your Google account information to sign in or tap Create account to make one. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Note: When you add your Google account, you will be able to access emails using the Gmail app on your phone.

Last but not least, add an email account and receive your emails through the Email app.

Navigate to Settings, and then swipe to and select Accounts and backup. Tap Manage accounts, and then tap Add account. Select Personal (IMAP) or Personal (POP3).

Note: IMAP is the recommended method for receiving email, especially if you are working across multiple devices. POP3 should be used if you prefer to have all emails accessible offline.

Add an email account

Enter your email and other account credentials. Depending on your provider, there may be additional requirements to complete the setup on your device. If needed, sign into your account via the internet, and then turn on access to allow use of the app.

If necessary, you can download and install the Samsung Email app using Galaxy Store or Play Store or download and install the app for your email provider. After installing, open the app and select the desired email account you wish to add. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup.

If needed, you can easily remove your accounts whenever you want, whether it is a Samsung, Google, or email account. You can always add them again later on, using the same steps in the previous sections.

Open Settings, and then tap Accounts and backup. Tap Manage accounts, and then tap the account you want to remove. Next, tap Remove account.

Some accounts may have additional steps like entering your password, so watch the screen for any extra steps.
