I'm unable to send SMS (text) messages from Galaxy smartphone (Hong-Kong version). How do I fix this?

Last Update date : Nov 24. 2020

I'm unable to send text messages to a specific contact, but can send messages to other contacts

If there is only one contact to which you're unable to send any text messages the problem very likely lies with the network and not with your device. Please contact your network operator to see if they know of a solution. If  possible it is also worth asking your contact to ask his or her network operator about the problem, too.

If the network operator(s) are unable to help, then please contact Samsung's customer support services for further assistance.

I'm unable to send text messages to any of my contacts

If you're unable to send any SMS (text) messages to any contacts, but your phone is otherwise perfectly functional, it suggests that your network operator's message center number stored in your device's settings is either missing or wrong. Follow these steps to check, and if necessary correct, that number.

1 Switch to the Apps screen.
2 Tap Messaging (you may need to swipe left or right to locate it first).
3 Tap the 3-dot More key.
4 Tap Settings.
5 Tap More settings.
6 Tap Text messages.
7 Locate Message center. Directly beneath it should be the message center phone number of your network operator. (Check your network operator's website for their message center number to compare). If the number on your phone is different, or missing, tap Message center, enter your network operator's message center number and then tap SET. Then try sending a text message.

If the text message still won't send, or if your phone already had the correct message center number stored, please follow the next steps to clear the data in the Messaging app.

Clear the Messaging app's data

1 Switch to the Apps screen.
2 Tap Settings (you may need to swipe left or right to locate it first).
3 Tap Apps.
4 Select All apps.
5 Scroll down to locate Messages and tap on it.
6 Tap Storage.
7 Tap Clear Data.
8 Restart your device.
9 Try sending a text message. If it doesn't work, perform a factory reset on your device.

Care!

Performing Factory Reset will erase all data from your devices.

Follow the steps below to perform a factory reset.

1 Back up all the media, text messages, etc. that you wish to save. This can be done through Smart Switch on your PC. A factory reset will wipe your phone clean, restoring the software to how it was when the device left the factory.
2 On the Home screen, tap Settings.
3 Tap General Management.
4 Tap Reset.
5 Tap Factory data reset.
6 Tap RESET.

Thank you for your feedback!
