My TV doesn’t detect a device connected via HDMI
If you facing some issues while you connecting your Samsung TV with other devices through HDMI cable, it may refer to different reasons, to figure that out let’s check the below.
Check 1. Check the power button on the connected devices.
Check that the connected device is actually powered on, and properly connected to your Samsung TV, and if you connected to a Laptop or PC make sure that it is not in Sleep or Hibernate mode and it is set to Portrait mode.
Check 2. Select the connected device
You can select the port that you connected external device if you connected multiple devices by following these steps:
Step 1. Press home on the remote control.
Step 2. Then select Connected devices option.
Step 3. Select Sources to select the right source.
Check 3. Try a different HDMI cable.
Use a different HDMI cable to connect your external device to the TV.
Check 4. Use the HDMI Cable Test function
You can use the HDMI Cable Test function built into your TV to check for abnormalities in the connected HDMI cable, by following these steps:
Step 1. Press the Home button on your remote control and navigate to Settings > Support.
Step 2. Select Device Care.
Step 3. Select Self Diagnosis.
Step 4. Select HDMI Troubleshooting from the menu.
Step 5. Check the connected HDMI ports in sequential order.
Check 5. Connect a different external device to see if it works.
· If the new device works, the issue is with the original device. Contact the manufacturer of the original device for further assistance.
· If both devices do not work, and all other steps have been completed, the TV requires service.
Note:
- Using a non-certified HDMI cable may result in a blank screen or a connection error.
- Use an HDMI cable with a thickness of 0.66 inches (17 mm) or less.
