No sound from the soundbar

When there is no sound from your soundbar, you should make sure the connected devices are turned on, the soundbar is set to the correct source, and the cable is connected properly. Depending on your setup type, the steps may be different.

Make sure your devices are working properly and connected correctly to the TV or soundbar. For more information on connections on the soundbar, check out how to Set up your Samsung Soundbar.

Note: Updating the firmware on your Samsung soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. Depending on the model, the eARC function may not be supported. The menu name and menu path may vary by models.

Connecting your TV to your soundbar using ARC only requires one HDMI cable. This type of connection is best when you are only connecting the soundbar and TV, and not using external devices. You should check the cable connections, the TV’s Sound Output setting, and the soundbar’s source if you are using this type of connection.

1 First, make sure the HDMI cable is securely connected to the HDMI (ARC/eARC) port on the TV and the HDMI TO TV (eARC/ARC) port on the bottom of the soundbar.

2 Turn on the TV and soundbar.
3 Make sure HDMI-CEC is enabled on your TV.

Note: If you have a Samsung TV, navigate to Settings, select All settings and then select Connection. Select External Device Manager, and then select Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC). Check the user manual for your TV if these instructions don't match, or if you don't have a Samsung TV.

4 Check if the TV's Sound Output is set to the connected soundbar. Refer to your TV user manual.

Note: For Samsung TVs, navigate to and select Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Sound Output, and then select the connected soundbar.

5 Set the soundbar source to D.IN and confirm that it displays “D.IN” and then “TV ARC” in the sequence.

Note: To change the soundbar source, press the Multi Function/Source button on the top of the soundbar, or the Source button on the remote control to select the "D.IN" setting.

6 If “D.IN” and “TV ARC” do not display in the sequence, try detaching the cable. If that does not work, try connecting to another TV with the eARC port. If it works normally on another TV, then the original TV has an issue and you may need to get it serviced.
7 If the soundbar does not output audio from another TV either, please contact Samsung Support for further assistance.

Notes:

 • If an external device is connected to the TV, check the power and volume of the external device. Then, check if the TV speaker outputs normally. To find this, navigate to Sound Output, and then select TV Speaker.

 • To use eARC, you will need to activate the eARC function on your TV. Navigate to and select Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Expert Settings, then select HDMI-eARC Mode, and then select Auto.

 • ARC/eARC may not operate because of external device problems. To fix this, disconnect the external device from the TV, then power off the TV and soundbar, and then power both devices back on. Then, check if the sound outputs normally.

 • If the HDMI cable is defective, please replace the cable, and then check if the sound outputs normally.

Notes:

 • Certain devices, such as microwaves and wireless routers, can cause radio interference if they are located too close to the soundbar. Make sure there are no obstructions between the TV and soundbar.

 • If part of your body is in contact with the Bluetooth transceiver or the soundbar is installed on a metal surface, the sound may drop.

 • If asked for a PIN code when connecting to Bluetooth, you can use the default PIN: 0000.

 • Only one Samsung TV can be connected at a time.

1 If there is no sound from the soundbar when it has already been connected to your TV using Bluetooth, you can check if the correct source has been selected on your TV. Navigate to and select Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Sound Output, then select Bluetooth Speaker List, and then select your soundbar on the TV’s Bluetooth device list.

Note: You may see a “Need Pairing” or “Paired” message prompting you to connect to your soundbar. Select the message to establish the connection.

2 If this does not work, you can try unpairing and then re-pairing the soundbar from the TV. To unpair the soundbar, press the Source button on the soundbar’s remote, and then select a mode other than BT.

Note: If you don’t have a soundbar remote, you can press the Multi Function or Source button on the soundbar, and then select a mode other than BT.

3 Next, re-pair the soundbar by pressing the PAIR button on the soundbar’s remote. The display will show “BT PAIRING” when its source is set to Bluetooth.

Note: If you don’t have a soundbar remote, you can press the Multi Function or Source button on the soundbar, and then select BT PAIRING.

4 Once the soundbar is in pairing mode, you will need to pair the soundbar to your TV. For a Samsung TV, navigate to and select Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Sound Output, and then select Bluetooth Speaker List or Bluetooth Audio Device, depending on your TV model.

Note: For instructions on pairing to different brands of TV, refer to your TV’s user manual.

5 If you are unable to connect the soundbar using Bluetooth, or if the Bluetooth connection or sound continues to drop, please contact Samsung Support for further assistance.

Note: The TV and soundbar must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

1 If there is no sound from your soundbar when it’s connected to Wi-Fi, you should first make sure that your wireless router is turned on and has a strong signal.
2 Next, try turning off the router and turning it back on. Then, check if your soundbar will connect to your Wi-Fi network. If not, please proceed with the next step.
3 Try moving the router closer to the soundbar while also removing obstacles between the router and soundbar, if necessary.

4 If you need to reconnect your soundbar to your Wi-Fi network, you will need to use the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet. Navigate to and open the SmartThings app.
5 You may see a pop-up notification, prompting you to add your soundbar to the app. Follow the on-screen instructions in the pop-up.
6 If this pop-up does not appear, tap the Devices tab, then tap the Add icon (the plus sign), and then tap Add device.
7 Tap Scan under "Scan for nearby devices" to find your soundbar.

Note: You can also use the options under Scan QR code or Enter setup code.

8 Follow the on-screen instructions to add your soundbar to the app. You will then be able to connect your soundbar to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV.
9 On your TV, navigate to and select Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Sound Output, and then select your soundbar.
10 If you are unable to connect your soundbar to your Wi-Fi network, or if you still do not hear sound from your soundbar, please contact Samsung Support for further assistance.

Notes:

 • Soundbar HDMI IN can only support up to 4K (4:4:4 8 bit).

 • If there is a secondary audio setting in the audio output options, it should be set to Off.

 • Check whether the content to be used supports Dolby Atmos®/DTS:X.

3 Turn on the soundbar, TV, and the external device, and check the volume of the external device.
4 Make sure HDMI CEC is enabled on your TV.

Note: If you have a Samsung TV, navigate to Settings, select All settings and then select Connection. Select External Device Manager, and then select Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC). Check the user manual for your TV if these instructions don't match, or if you don't have a Samsung TV.

5 Set the soundbar source to HDMI and confirm it displays “HDMI”.

Note: To change soundbar source, press the Multi Function or Source button on the top of the soundbar or the Source button on the remote control to select "HDMI" setting.

6 Check if the TV's Sound Output is set to the connected soundbar. Refer to your TV user manual.

7 Power off TV, soundbar, and all connected devices first and then connect a different device to the same port on your soundbar. Review the previous steps. Then, listen for sound from that device. If you hear sound from the test device but not your original one, then your original device is causing the issue. Contact its manufacturer for further troubleshooting.
8 If the soundbar does not output audio from the test device either, please contact Samsung Support for further assistance.
