We are helping you stay connected and have more control with SmartThings.

After adding your washing machine to your account in SmartThings you will now have more control over when your washing starts/finishes, what what cycle is best for your washing and so much more.

To find out more about how to add your washer to SmartThings or how to control/manager your washing below.

Samsung offers many SmartThings compatible models of Washing Machines. By adding your washing machine to your account in SmartThings, you'll be ready to get the most out of it.

To connect your washing machine to SmartThinngs you first need to have the SmartThings app installed on your phone.

  • Open the SmartThings App
  • Tap Add (The + icon)
  • Select Device
  • Under Device select Washer then tap Samsung

You are also able to search for the device by brand using the search bar or tapping Scan (bluetooth on the device needs to be enabled)

If you would like to confirm which models work with SmartThings open the App, tap Menu, select Supported Devices.

SmartThings is here to make things easier. You no longer have to wait around for your Washing Machine to beep saying it has finished.

Your phone, Samsung Smart TV, or Family Hub Fridge can alert you when the wash cycle is complete, if the Smart Control status changes or if any errors occur.

If you would like to disable the notifications you will need to

  • Open the SmartThings App
  • Tap Menu
  • Select Settings
  • Tap the switch next to Notifications to turn off

By default, SmartThings notifications are on so you'll get notifications automatically once your washer is connected.

Use SmarThings and Smart Control to set the cycles for your washing machine.

  • Put your laundry in the washing machine
  • Add the detergent
  • Close the door
  • Press Smart Control

Once you have done this you can then open the SmartThings application to choose the cycle you would like to run.

  • Open SmartThings app
  • Tap Menu
  • Select All devices
  • Tap your washing machine
  • Select the currently selected cycle
  • Tap the cycle you would like to run
  • Select OK

By default, Smart Control will turn off when the door is opened or the cycle completes. You can't stop Smart Control from turning off when the door opens, but you can opt to keep it on after a cycle finishes. To do so, swipe up and select the Smart Control option, and then enable the Stay Connect setting. This is useful if you want to run a second cycle after the first.

Bixby enabled models offer cycles in SmartThings that aren't available on the washer's control panel. When one of these is selected, the panel in real life will indicate the Downloaded cycle is running. Don't always have your phone with you? That's okay. You can pick any of the downloadable cycles to be set as the default for future use when you select the Downloaded cycle on the panel.

Not sure on which laundry cycle to use? SmartThings has got you covered with its Laundry Recipe feature.

To use this, follow steps below

  • Open the SmartThings app
  • Tap Menu
  • Tap All devices
  • Select your Washer
  • Tap Laundry Recipe to open the feature.
  • Select the types of laundry you are washing, and then tap Next.

As you select the types, tips may appear to help you get more out of your washer.

Select the color and soil level, and then tap Get Recipe. A list of suggested cycles and temperature settings will appear. Load your washer, including detergent and additives, close the door, and then touch Smart Control.

On your mobile device, swipe up or down to select a recommended cycle, and then tap Start to begin the cycle.

Not sure when you are going to be arriving home? As long as you close the door and hit Smart Control before you leave, (and don't forget to put in the detergent and everything), you can wait to use Laundry Planner until you have a better idea of when you'll be home. Thanks to the magic of the internet, you'll still be able to have those clothes ready right as you're walking in the door.

We all know that you shouldn't leave laundry sitting in the washer after the cycle's over (it can grow mold or mildew and start to stink), which means you'll need to be there to move it to the dryer as soon as possible. But if you are unable to make it back intime to do so? Enter the Laundry Planner. You can specify when you want the cycle to finish, and it will list the recommended cycles that fit within that timeframe. Then just hit Start and forget about it.

  • Load your washer, including detergent and additives
  • Close the door
  • Select Smart Control
  • Open the SmartThings app
  • Select Menu
  • Tap All devices
  • Select your washer
  • Tap Laundry Planner to open the feature.
  • Swipe the selection knob along the outer edge of the circle to select the preferred End Time.

Cycles available to fit the requested timeframe will be listed

  • Swipe up or down to select an available cycle, and then tap Start. The washer will begin weight sensing immediately, and then will wait to start the cycle until the correct time..

Want to check on the wash cycle while it's in progress?

  • Open the SmartThings app
  • Tap Menu
  • Tap All devices
  • Select your washer
  • The current status of the washer displays

You'll see what type of cycle is running, any icons that are lit, and when it's expected to complete, just as if you were standing right in front of your washer.
