Migrating your WhatsApp data from iPhone to Samsung phone

If you previously backed up your new Samsung phone without WhatsApp or you skipped the backup process when setting up your phone - Start from Step 1.

For factory new Samsung phones - Start from Step 4.

Step 1. From your Samsung phone's Home screen, go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Bring data from old device.

Step 2. You will be asked "What should this phone do?". Select Receive data.

Step 3. Under Select a source, select iPhone/iPad.

Step 4. Connect by cable to your iPhone when prompted (your phone must be turned on).

Step 5. On your iPhone, tap "Trust" on the pop-up. Then tap Next on your Samsung.

Step 6. Select the data you wish to transfer, including "Data from iPhone apps" and tap Transfer. (You might be prompted to install WhatsApp if you do not already have it installed).

Step 7. When prompted, scan the QR code shown on your Galaxy phone using the iPhone’s camera.

Step 8. Tap Start on your iPhone and wait for the process to complete.

Step 9. Continue with the setup of your Galaxy phone.

Step 10. When you reach the home screen, open WhatsApp and log in using the same phone number used on your iPhone.

Step 11. Tap Start to import your data when prompted, and allow the process to complete.

Step 12. Your WhatsApp data should be imported successfully.

Note:

  • Your old device will still have your WhatsApp data unless you wipe it or delete the app.
  • Transferred data will not go to cloud storage through this process as it was transferred through a cable.
