Is the S-pen compatible with the Galaxy S23 series?

Last Update date : May 27. 2023

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a built-in S Pen, so you can easily carry it around and use it whenever you want. However,  the Galaxy S23+ & S23 do not support S Pen.

  • Do not bend or apply excessive pressure with the S Pen while using it. The S Pen may be damaged or the nib may be deformed.
  •  If there is a magnet near the device, some S Pen actions, such as charging or tapping the touch screen, may not work.
  • Even if the S Pen has been fully discharged, you can use other S Pen features, such as tapping the touch screen or the Air command features.
  • If you use the S Pen at sharp angles on the screen, the device may not recognize the S Pen's actions.
  • If water enters the S Pen slot, remove the water from the slot before using it.
  • If the S Pen is not working properly, take it to a Samsung Service Center.

How to charge the S Pen

When you insert the S Pen into the slot, charging will start automatically. If the Air action feature is turned off, the S Pen will be charged only when the device is charging.

Note: The S Pen must be charged before you can control apps remotely by using the S Pen button.

Reset the S Pen

If your S Pen won’t connect to your phone or if it doesn’t seem to be charging, resetting the S Pen is a quick fix.

Step 1. To reset it, open Settings, and then search for and select S Pen.

Step 2. Tap S Pen remote or Air actions.

Step 3. Tap More options (the three vertical dots).

Step 4. Tap Reset S Pen and wait for the S Pen to reset itself.

Note:

  • You can only connect Samsung-approved S Pens that support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Do not detach the S Pen from the device when it is being connected. Doing so will interrupt the process

How to detach the S Pen

You can easily disengage and reinsert S Pen. Press the end of the S Pen and pull out from the slot. To store the S Pen, reinsert it into the slot and push it until it clicks into place.
