What is Adaptive color tone feature

Last Update date : Mar 07. 2024

The Adaptive color tone feature is a functionality in the Galaxy S24 series that adjusts screen color and white balance based on ambient brightness. This ensures more natural and comfortable viewing in various environments or lighting conditions

Enable Adaptive color tone feature

Option 1: via Settings

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap Display

3. Tap Adaptive color tone.

Option 2. via Quick panel

Go to quick panel, select More options > Adaptive color tone.

Note:

  • White Balance refers to the adjustment of colors in an image so that the colors of objects appear as they would under normal lighting conditions.
  • Device screenshots and menu may vary depending on the device model and software version.

The 'Eye Comfort Shield' function automatically adjusts the screen's color temperature over time based on ambient lighting, prioritizing eye comfort.

In contrast, the 'Adaptive Color Tone' function optimizes colors based on the overall ambient environment, considering factors like brightness and light source.

When both functions are turned on, the color of ‘Eye comfort shield’ is applied first, and then the ‘Adaptive color tone’ function optimizes the color that doesn't interfere with sleep.

After enabling the ‘Adaptive color tone’ function, you may notice some changes in the colors displayed on the screen, particularly the blue tone. This can be attributed to the adjustment in white color temperature. As a result, other colors in complementary relationships may appear slightly darker or different than usual.

This is because of an optical illusion created by contrast and should not cause any concern.
