Outstanding Personal Monochrome Printer
The Samsung Xpress M2825DW has won the BLI Summer 2013 "Pick" for "Outstanding Personal Monochrome Printer."
“To me, image quality was the best thing about this unit,” said BLI Test Technician Rich Holloway. “Characters were dark and sharp; line art was consistent across the board; halftones were produced over the entire range, with smooth coverage in every level; and solids were dark. For a personal printer, you really can’t ask for better output than what I saw from the Xpress M2825DW.
"It’s noteworthy that the unit didn’t misfeed or require any service over 6,000 pages, and that routine maintenance procedures are simples," Holloway added. "And the feature set provides everything users would need in terms of memory and paper." One of Samsung’s "calling cards" for the past several years has been environmental friendliness, and the Xpress M2825DW follows that trend to a T. "The Result Simulator in the driver provides the estimated reduction for carbon dioxide emissions and energy and paper consumption when 'green' features are selected," said BLI Associate Editor Carl Schell. "The Easy Eco Driver lets users remove text or images, or lighten text or change the font, to conserve toner, without affecting the original document." Also, pressing the Eco hardkey on the control panel defaults the unit to the most environmentally responsible settings, standard automatic duplexing contributes to less paper waste, and printing in toner-save mode extends the life of the cartridge, all of which helps achieve a lower TCO. “So with this unit, users can be 'green' and save money," Schell noted.
