SAMSUNG Electronics Offers Look at 2003 Digital A/V Product Trends

SEOUL, Korea ? February 19, 2003 ? Samsung Electronics is intent upon firming up its leading position in the market for digital products this year. As part of this effort, the company has organized a series of briefings on its latest digital models.

The presentation series was kicked off in Seoul, at the Shilla Hotel’s Dynasty Hall on February 19. Similar sessions will also be held in other major Korean cities through February 26. The Seoul program was emceed by Yoo Chung-hyun, a popular local TV announcer. New products were presented, along with various other events for retail shop managers and sales staff.

The event opened with a video on the advent of a new era known as “digital A/V.” Then, key new items from each product category were introduced. The program included a theme performance on the PAVV home theater with entertainer Danny Chung, a dynamic performance the percussion group Light & Sound and a drawing for free gifts. A lunch followed, accompanied by a classical music performance.

A separate, large booth was set up where guests could try out the new digital A/V products for themselves. These products included PAVV systems with advanced PDP TVs, LCD TVs, DLP projection TVs, high-end DVD players and DVD/VCR combination units; the latest PAVV home theater, with new functions and design; camcorders; yepp MP3 players, and audio systems.

At the booth, the guests could operate the PAVV home theater by remote control and read a product brochure on the system. They had an opportunity to experience the high-definition digital images and rich 5.1-channel sound the PAVV home theater offers.

Samsung Electronics is using the presentation program to highlight its new products and technologies for the digital A//V market in 2003, to include digital TVs, DVD players, home theaters, digital camcorders and yepp. Company officials expect this program will help solidify Samsung’s leading market position in Korea.
