SAMSUNG Launches High-Definition DVD Player in Korean Market

Seoul, Korea—May 26th, 2003: Samsung Electronics is launching a new DVD player, featuring HD image quality and Digital Visual Interface (DVI) port.

Unlike most consumer DVD players, which convert digitally recorded images to analog, the Samsung DVD-HD593 sends unconverted digital signals through the DVI, thus preserving the image quality completely. The digital output converts standard definition signals (480i) to high definition quality (720P, 1080i) for a much improved viewing experience.

DVD-HD593 also features Digital Correlational Deinterlacing (DCDi), a new visual algorithm that optimizes visual output to both analog and digital TVs.
