GTDC SUMMIT, NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Sept. 23, 2010 – In stark contrast to recent economic conditions, Samsung Enterprise Business Division grew sales through its U.S. IT distribution partners faster than competitors during the past 12 months. In recognition of this accomplishment, the company was honored yesterday with a bronze ‘Rising Star’ award by the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC), a worldwide industry association dedicated to defining and promoting the role of wholesale distribution. GTDC members represent more than $100 billion in annual worldwide ‘channel’ sales.
Samsung’s exceptional performance was noted from among hundreds of IT manufacturers and publishers who rely on GTDC distributors to supply inventory to technology solution providers worldwide. A formal ceremony takes place at the annual GTDC Summit which brings together top IT distribution executives, channel leaders from major technology companies and other industry experts.
“In a year of tremendous momentum in product development for the channel, we are honored to be recognized by GTDC for our achievements,” said Doug Albregts, vice president of sales and marketing at Samsung Enterprise Business Division. . “We’re looking forward to expanding our footprint in the channel and continuing to develop our offerings for existing and new partners in the coming year.”
“Samsung’s outstanding U.S. growth through IT distributors over the past year reflects strong overall commitment to channel partners,” commented Tim Curran, GTDC CEO. “Such success is even more impressive considering how economic conditions have forced many businesses to do more with less. Companies like Samsung are showing they have the products, programs and proactive engagement to address the changing needs of partners as well as end users.”
Sales figures that determine Rising Star award winners are based on the past year’s actual U.S. revenue as calculated by industry research organization The NPD Group using its Distributor Track® service. To be eligible for a Rising Star award, vendors are required to have sold corresponding products through IT distributors for a minimum of one year. Categories include:
