SAMSUNG'S SyncMaster 173P Wins "Gold" 2004 Industrial Design Excellence Award

Irvine, CA -- Samsung, the world's leading manufacturer of computer monitors, has captured a ""Gold"" 2004 Industrial Design Excellent Award (IDEA) for its SyncMaster™ 173P LCD monitor in the Computer Equipment category. Samsung's high-end 17"" LCD monitor was recognized for its slim and sleek design form factor and its differentiation from its competition. Each year, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) selects the best new product design from specific industry categories for IDEA.
Featuring a host of advanced technology, the SyncMaster 173P incorporates Samsung's proprietary MagicTune™ software for a truly hands-free experience. It also offers Samsung's MagicBright technology, dual inputs (digital and analog) and Pivot technology. The 173P is offered in a stylish silver color and features a unique dual-hinge design that can be folded flush and used as the wall mount bracket. It also offers a full 90° screen tilt for unmatched flexibility and 0.0"" - 3.25"" height adjustment capability.

""As a global technology leader, it is Samsung's goal to offer our customers new and innovative products that feature cutting-edge design and ergonomics while showcasing an attractive and aesthetically pleasing look,"" states Rey Roque, Vice President of Marketing for Samsung's Information Technology Division (ITD). ""The 173P highlights the award-winning efforts of Samsung's R&D team and features high-end proprietary technology that underscores our total commitment to offering the most advanced displays available today.""

The monitor sports a slim bezel that is just 0.8"" thick and a sleek 1"" panel profile. The SyncMaster 173P also features a single on/off button -- all other applications, set up utilities, and screen adjustments are executed via the mouse through the video cable. MagicTune's default screen, known as the Wizard, guides users through a comprehensive step-by-step setup procedure than ensures customized optimum on-screen performance. In addition to the coveted IDEA award, the SyncMaster 173P has been saluted with many industry accolades from top media outlets across the country in 2004. The 173P garnered PC World's ""World Class: Best of 2004"" award in the 17-inch LCD category (July 2004). In addition, the SyncMaster 173P has toped CNET's ""Editors Top Monitors"" chart for 17-inch LCDs each month since January 2004. The 173P also received the prestigious ""Recommended"" award from CRN in March 2004.

Samsung backs all of its monitors with a three-year, parts and labor warranty as well as toll-free technical support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
