SAMSUNG Presenting Wiseview(TM) TFT-LCDs at SID Event

LONG BEACH, Calif., May 15, 2000 - Market leader Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. will be presenting its latest Wiseview? flat-panel display technologies at the SID from May 16th through 18th. The new Wiseview? brand name has been established to further distinguish Samsung’s innovative TFTs from the competition.

One in five notebook PCs worldwide feature a Samsung Wiseview? flat-panel display. Samsung holds the top position in the world TFT-LCD market for the second straight year, with an 18.8% share. Samsung TFT-LCD sales reached US$2.2 billion in 1999, a 175% increase over the previous year. In 2000, the markets for 14.1-inch LCDs for notebook PCs, and 15-inch and 17-inch LCDs for desktop monitors are predicted to surge.

`Leading PC OEMs such as Apple, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sony and Toshiba go for our winning combination of large screen sizes, high resolution and wide viewing angles` stated Bob Eminian, vice president of marketing and corporate communications at Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Jose. `We intend to maintain our leadership position in both notebook PC panels and LCD desktop monitors going forward,` he continued.

Products featured at SID include: 12.1-inch XGA through 16.5-inch UXGA flat panels for notebook PCs, and 15.0-inch UXGA through 24-inch Wide UXGA LCD monitors.About Samsung Semiconductor
