SEM Announced Dual Band Antenna Switch Module

SEM announced the development of a dual band antenna switch module that can be used for two main European portable phone standards, EGSM and DCS1800, simultaneously. The dual band antenna switch module is one of the critical components used in dual band phones, and switches receiving signals from transmitting signals. Murata, Japan first developed the dual band antenna switch module and now TDK and Kyosera of Japan recently started to produce it. The dual band antenna switch module developed by SEM combines 5 components, GSM switching circuit, 900 MHz low pass filter, DCS switching circuit, 1.8 GHz low pass filter and diplexer, into one module which is 1/5 smaller (6.7mm X 5.2mm X 2mm) than existing antenna circuits. SEM applied LTCC multiplayer technique using 13 ceramic layers that have RF circuits. SEM is now developing FEM (Front End Module) with SAW filters built in. SEM has started to mass-produce them and will release 2 million units monthly next year, providing a turnover of over US$20 million.
