DLP TV: How Do I Reset My DLP To Its Factory Settings?

No title

Resetting the Picture to the Factory Default On Current Models

Most DLP TVs have three or four automatic picture modes, for example, Dynamic, Standard, Movie, etc. Each mode has its own, independent group of settings (color, tint, contrast, etc.). When you change a picture setting in a mode, you change the setting for that mode only. The change does not affect the settings in the other modes. If, for example, you select the Dynamic picture mode, and change the contrast setting, you change the contrast for the Dynamic picture mode only. The contrast settings in the other modes are not affected.

Each picture mode also has its own reset to factory defaults function, which resets the settings for that mode only to the factory defaults. If you want to reset all the automatic picture modes to their factory defaults, you must use the reset to factory defaults function for each mode.

To reset an automatic picture mode to its factory default settings on your DLP TV, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press the Menu button on your remote. The Main Menu appears.
  3. Press Enter on your remote to select Picture.
  4. Press Enter to select Mode. The Mode drop down appears.
  5. Use the Up or Down arrow button to select the appropriate mode, and then press Enter.
  6. Press the Up or Down arrow to select Reset, and then press Enter.

Note: Reset is sometimes on the second or even third set of menu options, after More.

  1. Press the Down arrow button so that background of OK is dark, and the background of Cancel is blue.
  2. Press Enter. On some TVs, the picture disappears for a moment, then reappears. The mode is now reset to the factory defaults.
  3. Press the Menu button to exit.

Note 1: The procedure above applies to most current Samsung DLP TVs. It may not apply to yours. For instructions particular to your TV, see your user's manual.

Note 2: The selections you can access on the menu screens depend upon the video source you have selected. Selections that are not available for a given source are grayed out.

Resetting the Sound to the Factory Default on Current Models

The sound Reset function lets you reset the equalizer settings to the factory defaults in the Custom sound mode only.

To reset the equalizer to its factory default settings on your DLP TV, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press the Menu button on your remote. The Main menu appears.
  3. Press the Up or Down arrow button on your remote to select Sound, and then press the Enter button. The Sound menu appears.
  4. Select Mode, and then press the Enter button.
  5. Press the Up or Down arrow button on your remote to select the Custom mode, and then press the Enter button.
  6. Press the Up or Down arrow to select Reset, and then press Enter.

Note: Reset is sometimes on the second set of menu options, after More.

  1. Press the Down arrow button so that background of OK is dark, and the background of Cancel is blue.
  2. Press Enter. The equalizer is now reset to the factory defaults.
  3. Press the Menu button on your remote to exit.

Important: On some DLP TVs, you must turn on Game Mode before you can reset the equalizer. For instructions on turning on Game Mode, see the section titled Using the Game Mode in the Function Description chapter of your user's manual.
