Screen Locks

There are three different types of screen locks on the mobile device: Pattern, PIN, and Password lock.

Pattern Lock

You can increase your mobile device's security by creating a screen unlock pattern (disabled by default). When enabled, you must draw the correct unlock pattern on the screen to unlock and regain access to the mobile device.

Creating an Unlock Pattern

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security > Set up screen lock.
  2. Touch Pattern.

  3. Read the information on the screen and touch Next.

  4. Watch the example pattern on the screen, and touch Next.

  5. Draw the screen unlock pattern by connecting at least four dots in a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal direction. Lift your finger from the screen when finished.
  6. The mobile device records the pattern. Touch Continue.

  1. When prompted, draw the screen unlock pattern again, and then touch Confirm.

Configuring Screen Unlock Settings

Once the feature is enabled, additional screen unlock setting options are then enabled from within the Location and security menu list.

Changing Screen Lock

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security > Change screen lock.

  2. Draw the current pattern on the screen.

  3. Touch Pattern and draw a new pattern.

Use Visible Pattern

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security.
  2. Remove the checkmark adjacent to the Use visible pattern field.
    • Removing this checkmark prevents the unlock pattern from displaying on the unlock screen

Use Tactile feedback

This feature enables vibration on screen lock User Interface(UI) interaction.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security.
  2. Touch Use Tactile feedback. A green checkmark indicates the feature is enabled.

PIN Lock

Creating a PIN to Unlock the Screen

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security > Set up screen lock.
  2. Touch PIN.

  3. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter a numeric PIN and touch Continue.

  4. Re-enter the same numeric sequence and touch OK.

To change your PIN:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security.
  2. Scroll down to the menu list and touch Change screen lock.

  3. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter your current numeric PIN and touch Continue.
  4. Touch PIN.

  5. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter your numeric PIN and touch Continue.
  6. Re-enter the same numeric sequence and touch OK.

Password Lock

Creating a Password to Unlock the Screen

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security > Set up screen lock.
  2. Touch Password.

  3. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter an alphanumeric password and touch Continue.

  4. Re-enter the same alphanumeric sequence and touch OK.

To change your Password:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security.
  2. Scroll down to the menu list and touch Change screen lock.

  3. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter your alphanumeric password and touch Continue.
  4. Touch Password.

  5. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter your current alphanumeric password and touch Continue.
  6. Re-enter the same alphanumeric sequence and touch OK.

Using Visible Passwords

When enabled, this feature allows you to view the text being entered into a password field as you type it; however, there are applications that insert an asterisk (*) as you type. When visible password is enabled, you can see what you are entering. This feature is enabled by default.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security.
  2. Touch Visible passwords. A green checkmark indicates the feature is enabled.

To disable visible passwords:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Applications app > Settings > Location & security.
  2. Touch Visible passwords (to remove the checkmark on the option).
