Mobile Hotspot

Your mobile device supports the creation of a Mobile Hotspot. This feature turns your device into a mobile Wi-Fi^® Hotspot. You can share your Open GSM 4G HSPA+ data connection with any Wi-Fi-enabled device that you have with you. Never be without Internet access on your laptop, tablet, or even your gaming device again.

Mobile Hotspot Configuration

To set up your mobile device as a Mobile Hotspot:

1. Touch the Applications icon.
2. Scroll to and touch Settings.
3. Scroll to and touch More… under Wireless & networks.
4. Touch Tethering & portable hotspot.
5. Touch the checkbox next to Portable Wi-Fi hotspot to turn the feature on or off.

   

6. Touch Configure Wi-Fi hotspot to view and/or change the settings for your hotspot.
1. Network SSID – This is the name that will be shown to devices trying to connect to your hotspot.
2. Security – Select the security type that you want to use.
3. Password – For WPA PSK and WPA2 PSK only.
7. Touch the checkbox next to Show password to view the existing password needed to connect to your hotspot, or enter a new password.

   

Note: Using your device as a mobile hotspot utilizes your Open GSM data connection. If you are connected to a Wi-Fi access point and turn mobile hotspot on, you will be disconnected from the Wi-Fi access point. Contact Open GSM for questions concerning data usage limitations and data overages (if applicable).
