Select, Copy, Paste, Search, and Share Text

You can copy and paste text in many applications. In this section, we will review copying text in the browser. The options available when selecting text may vary in other applications. For example, if you select text in a text entry field, you will also see a Cut option.

Select Text

1. Touch and hold the screen area containing the selected text until the text select is shown.
2. Adjust the selected area by touching and dragging the anchor points at either end of the selected text. Any selected text will appear highlighted.

Copy Text

Touch Copy to make the selected area available for pasting into other apps.

Paste Text

1. Open the location to paste the text (for example, messaging, as shown below).
2. Touch and hold the text field where you want to paste the text, then touch Paste. Alternatively, you can touch Clipboard to select from all of the recently copied text.



Note: You can paste text you copied from one application into a text field in most other applications.

Search Highlighted Text on the Web

1. Touch the Menu key in the top-right corner, and then touch Web Search.

2. The results will appear in a Google™ Search page.

Sharing Text

1. Touch Share.

2. Select the application you want to share the selected information with:
   Note: Additional sharing options may be available on your device. The options may vary based on applications installed and features you have activated.
   
   • Bluetooth^®: The selected text can be sent to a Bluetooth-enabled device.
   • Email: The selected text will be copied to a new email message in the email application. If you have multiple email accounts synchronized with the email application, you will be asked to select which account you want to send the email with.
   • Gmail™: The selected text will be copied to a new email message in Gmail.
   • Messaging: The selected text will be copied to a new text message.
   • Wi-Fi Direct™: Share the text by connecting to devices via Wi-Fi^®.
